Sermon Thoughts – (11/08/2015)

We are in a sermon titled “Impact” and the first message “Impacting the Next Generation” was presented last week at the church I worship at. Here is a link to the podcast: Link.

One life can shape the world and to be a person that impacts the world in a positive way, it is important to step out in faith by doing what God wants from us.

This day with God, share a thought from one of the great sermons in your community or from a podcast.

Thankfulness – Day 7

As the seasons change and we head into Thanksgiving, it is important that we express our gratitude to God. Here is a blog doing just that for each day during the month of November.

Precious Lord,

Today I thank you for fun, recreation, and celebration. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy Your creation and many, many blessings. Thank you for giving us permission to celebrate (Leviticus 23).

 Ecclesiastes 2:24

There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,

1 Corinthians 10:31

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep…

Through It All

While studying Genesis 34 in my devotional a while back, the thought that came to mind about how Jacob was able to think ahead in order to handle the situation with his daughter Dinah in a civil way. He resisted the temptation to physically harm the man that had defiled her. This poem was by how Jacob handled the situation.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

We all face situations
At work or the house
In which we react
With a negative rouse.

But we should think it out,
Pray for directions
And seek a way out
Of all bad situations.

The best way out
Is always through it.
One step at a time,
Never thinking to quit.

Go to God in prayer;
Share all the pains;
Ask for the best way;
Know that He reigns.

He helps plan the right things
For an amazing day
And the day runs smoother
When we follow His way.

Love Beyond Measure

Happiness on the FarmIn the post “The Third Day”, we are told that the women went to the tomb of Jesus on the third day after the crucifixion and found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They were told that Jesus had risen!

Our mood can always be lifted by the positive affirmation God gives us through His Son. Today, we are made aware that Jesus demonstrated love beyond measure and this inspires us to return this love unconditionally to others. Enjoy today’s video Love Take Me Over – Steven Curtis Chapman.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. – John 13:34

The Third Day

Explained in Luke 24:1-12 is what happened on the third day after the crucifixion of Jesus. The women took spices to the tomb but found the stone rolled away from the tomb and when they entered, they did not find the body of Jesus (v. 3). So Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them were the first to discover that Jesus had been raised from the dead.

The women saw two angels beside them who told them that Jesus was no longer here. The angels told them He has risen and they reminded the women what Jesus had said; that He would suffer, be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed but be raised to life on the third day.

The women found Jesus alive and we can discover daily that Christ is alive as we follow the instructions He gave all His followers; love others as He has demonstrated to us. We tell our neighbor that Jesus is alive today when we say a kind word or take action to care for them.

This day with You Lord, may we understand that the stone from the tomb of Jesus being moved is like opening up what traps our soul. We are no longer trapped to a future of despair but are freed to a future of joy and hope. With the resurrection, we have new life with You God. Amen!
