Stepping Ahead into each chapter of God’s Word feels like stepping onto holy ground with a bold, steady stride. There’s a certain expectancy in the air—a sense that God is stirring something right here in the present, inspiring the heart to move forward with courage. Each step becomes a declaration that the future is not limited by what we see, because with Jesus there is a future beyond anything we could imagine. And as the Holy Spirit guides each movement, we walk not in hesitation but in confidence, ready to step ahead into the incredible future God is already shaping.
Jeremiah 21 opens with a noticeable shift in how the people—and especially the king — viewed the prophet. For years they dismissed his warnings, but now his words were unfolding before their eyes. Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had begun his assault on the nation, and the threat was no longer theoretical. In desperation, King Zedekiah sent messengers to Jeremiah, asking him to inquire of the Lord on their behalf, hoping for a miraculous intervention. The very prophet they once ignored had become the one they urgently needed to hear from.
The Lord made it clear that the nation’s collapse was not merely the result of foreign power but of internal corruption. The religious leaders — those who were supposed to uphold truth and justice — had instead contributed to the social injustice and moral decay of the people. They failed to keep the commands, statutes, and decrees of the Lord, leading the nation into deeper rebellion. This stirred the Lord’s righteous anger, and in response, He allowed the political and military defeat they were now facing. Their downfall was not accidental; it was the consequence of long‑ignored warnings and a hardened refusal to return to God.
The lesson woven through Jeremiah 21 points us toward how we fight—and win—our own battles today. Victory never comes from our strength, strategy, or determination alone; it comes through the blood of Jesus Christ, the only power that truly overcomes evil. Because of Him, we don’t approach life with fear or hesitation but with an enthusiastic expectation of triumph. We prepare to win and expect to win, not out of arrogance, but because the Lord is on our side. Scripture calls us to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might, taking up the whole armor of God. With His covering, His Spirit, and His promise, we step into every challenge already aligned with the victory He has secured.

🙏 Lord, we come before You with confidence, knowing that every battle we face is winnable because You stand with us. You have given us spiritual weapons that no enemy can overcome—Your Word as the sword of the Spirit, our faith as a shield that extinguishes every fiery dart, and the helmet of salvation that guards our minds with Your Truth. Strengthen us to fight with courage, to stand with assurance, and to walk in the victory Jesus has already secured. Amen.
