Thanks for reading! This blog started from a small Bible Study group several years ago with just a few followers and now has grown beyond what I would have imagined. I’ve found it to be a great tool in my journey through the Bible and you, my readers are holding me accountable to daily Bible reading and study.

We live in a busy world with busy schedules and being able to share some thoughts about this journey with others across this world through the Internet is truly a blessing. Questions for Reflection will stimulate thought and offer ideas for applying biblical principles at work, at home, and in all we do.

Here is a link to all the devotionals done so far: Index of devotionals

If you are visiting and would like to get notified with each new post, I invite you to click on the follow button to join me on this journey or check in from time to time to get a great start to your day.

Also, the concepts presented in God’s Perfect Timing offer ideas for using our time wisely and the lessons of God’s Plan for Us gives a method towards making an impact in the world in which we live.

Feel free to respond with a short note or a comment. Also, I welcome thoughts or ideas, favorite inspirational videos, photos, or favorite Bible verses. Just add them to the comments or to a Facebook page I’ve set up at this link: This Day With God.

    Hey Mark,

Thanks for liking my blog and I really do enjoy your readings. As a young Christian looking to learn more about God as I write more stories, what are some places you think I should look at? Thank you and God Bless!

  5. Ricky Keeler says:

I already follow your blog and I love reading each and every one of your posts. its always good to go verse-by-verse through the Bible. I know in my study, right now, I am going through books that I never have read before, but knew about as a young kid. I know this sounds a lot better than your email, I just like learning from other brothers and sisters.

    • Mark Shields says:

Oh, I didn’t know you were already following. I’m just now starting to figure out how all that stuff works. I’m following your blog too. It’s great to learn from other brothers and sisters and I like the way WordPress has this set up.

Your blog relating sports and faith is very interesting. Building up faith in an individual is very similar to how an athlete builds up their physical body in sports. It takes a lot of discipline and persistence.

      • Ricky Keeler says:

I am glad you find my blog very interesting. I have seen that response from a lot of people and it amazes me how God has used a small blog and have it reach out to so many people. I also love how today’s sports have athletes that speak for Christ and some well-known ones as well as having key qualities of being a Christian be displayed in the sporting community, showing that the two can co-exist

  6. Hi Mark, thank you for stopping by my blog, I appreciate it:-) And I really enjoy reading your devotionals. Blessings and greetings from Hungary.

  37. Tim says:

    Hello Mark!

(I know this is the most inappropriate means of connecting with you…but this is the avenue I could find. Please forgive me)

Calvary greetings to you in the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Awesome work you are doing on your blog.

    God be praised forever!

My name (in short) is Tim and I am the administrator of the newly unveiled Christian Social Community: Rhemalog.

Craving your indulgence, I will quickly like to intimate you on our purpose, goals and objectives.

Rhemalog is a compound word, coined from “Rhema” and “Log”.
It means, putting into writing(Log), your encounters in the Word of God(Rhema).
Sharing with the beloved, the things that God has shown unto you in His Word.

Rhemalog is established by the leading of the Holy Spirit, as a platform to enrich and impact the body of Christ all over the World!

You will agree that there is a lot of degradation going on.
    Abuse, spiritual contaminations and pollutions.

All you need is to refresh your social-media pages long enough…then boom!
There you have it, in your face!
Wouldnt it be awesome to have a sanctified environment?

A platform built solely for the Children of God.
Devoid of negativity around us, but filled with inspirations, encouragements and above all, the WORD OF GOD!

    This is our driving force.
The clarion call that moved us to put Rhemalog in place.

And this is our call to you: Would you like to join us?

As one of the major (Christian) thinkers and opinion-makers out there, logically, it is a no-brainer that we need you, especially since our main goal is to ensure that the people are well fed.

We need your insightful thoughts. Inspirational ideas. Well written pieces. We need YOU!

We need you, not only as a member, but also as an A-List contributor.

And we already have all the tools required.

    – Personal Blogging feature
    – Video sharing
    – Community pages (think facebook pages)
    – Timelines and profiles
    – Pictures, etc

Together, we can build one of the most vibrant and impactful communities out there.

Should you decide to join us now:

    – Your personal blog and info will be shared on our social media pages (with over 59,000 members)

    – Your community page will be featured. Meaning, it will come up first in searches and views (with its own cute ribbon)

    – You can host all your youtube and vimeo videos, thereby increasing your viewer-ship and enhancing your reach.

    – As an early adopter, you will be a part of a huge and influential community at its infant stage.

Well, “gold and silver” we have not.
But can you help us be a blessing to the children of God out there?

It will be a huge honour and we will be waiting for you.

    rhemalog.com is the address.

Thanks and may God keep His face shining on you.

    Rhemalog Community

  40. bthomas says:

Have been following/reading your posts for quite some time. Reading mostly. Appreciate your thoughts.

Question. The ad on the post for today (6.21.16) is offensive and inappropriate to any discussion of faith. Don’t know about others, but do not read blogs such as this and others to be bombarded by extreme partisan political messages. Is this the selection of a third party or does it reflect the views of this blog?

    • Mark Shields says:

Thanks for reading this blog. I have found it helpful in my daily Bible Study.
If ads are appearing anywhere on this blog, it is because they are placed there by WordPress … not by me. I did some research and have found out that in order to be ad free now, Word Press charges a fee. I apologize for any inconvenience these ads may have caused you.

  41. Andy Oldham says:

Mark Shields, Hope you don’t mind me adding your site to mine “In The News Today”. https://roboeamerican.com
I added it to Friend of In The News today and on my dedicated feed page aster “Bible Gateway Blog”.
If you’d rather I didn’t please let me know.

Thanks and God bless you and your work.
