Each Day Can Be Amazing Because of Our Savior

Our days can look bleak just like they did in the post Refuge in the Deluge but each day can be amazing because of our Savior and our growing faith can never be taken away or depleted. The gospel message has a beautiful and refreshing simplicity about it that sets us free and never let us down.

It’s much easier living in God’s light, trusting in His promises, and using His resources. With God, it’s like running with the wind at your back. He knows our needs and gives us that extra push to the finish line.

Enjoy today’s inspiring video: He Knows – Jeremy Camp.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

Taking Refuge in the Deluge

Mountain of Switzerland with WordingDavid’s life was in jeopardy because King Saul believed the malicious stories and poisonous suggestions people were reporting about David. He needed to take refuge and two sources of refuge are mentioned in verse one of Psalm 11. One is to flee like a bird and take refuge on a mountain; the other is to take protection in the Lord. David chooses to trust in the Lord.

Reading Psalm 11, we see that God deals differently with the righteous and the wicked. The righteous are continually examined by Him but He hates the wicked with a passion (v 5). Back in the day of King David, a person had to maintain certain Jewish laws and perform sacrifices to be right with God. Today, we simply believe in the one true sacrifice of our Savior on the Cross.

Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, all who accept Him as Savior are considered righteous and can take refuge in Him. We all need God’s grace and once received, we gain wisdom to live the way life is meant to be lived.

This day with you Lord, we trust in your promises. Help us to live in the Light and use the resources You provide. You are the Source of all things; providing refuge in tough times. Lord, we are thankful for Your Son who died on the Cross for us so that we have complete access to You and Your resources. In His name we pray. Amen!

Sermon Thoughts – (12/20/2015)

Presented last week at the church I worship at was the message “Away in a Manger”. Here is a link to the podcast which is live at 9:30 central time each Sunday morning or viewable at any time or place thereafter at this link: http://fumcwaco.sermon.net/main/main/20557981.

Like the star of Christmas, God provides stars to guide us to Jesus; to the ONE born in a world of turmoil and to the ONE born into a world that needed a Redeemer. He was born in simplicity but today as Jesus is put into anything, there is a power that changes everything.

This day with God, share a thought from one of the great sermons in your community or from a podcast.

What God Can Do Through You

The blessing of God was on everything Joseph was in charge of and God gave success in whatever he did. This day with God, a poem to inspire lessons learned from Joseph on good work habits and leadership skills.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Even in prison,
Joseph was put in charge.
God’s favor was with him;
His affluence would enlarge.

Life was not trouble-free
But the Lord gave kindness
And was with him in order
To handle any crisis.

He faithfully followed the Lord
And under his care,
There was great achievement
And others became aware.

You can do the same
In everything you do
By daily praying to the Lord;
Having faith to get you through.

Trusting in His timing,
Studying His Word,
Reflecting on how to apply it,
Knowing prayers are being heard.

Praying to receive the power
Using talents to build the Kingdom
You will have great success
By growing in His wisdom.

For you know Him by living for Him
And asking Him to walk with you.
He creates changes for you
And rewards you for what you do.

The favor of the Lord
Will turn around the hardships

The Most Important Activity

Life is not easy and can hit right in the face. Sometimes we want to correct the problems our own way but it just will not work. David had issues in life as written about in the post “Eyes on Him as we Arise and Shine”. Then, he prayed for God to help and immediately felt confident that God would arise.

We all have a desire to get it right but sometimes we are hard headed and try to work it out all by ourselves. The most important activity is to pray like David did. Let us get help through prayer as we plan out our daily activities.

Today’s inspiring video is about how we all need the Lord. Remember, the most important activity is to begin this day with prayer and feel confident that whatever we ask will be answered in God’s timing: Lord, I Need You – Matt Maher.

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. – Matthew 7:8
