Eyes on Him as we Arise and Shine

What is expressed in Psalm 10 is why there seems to be little concern in the minds of tyrants for those who they go after. The tyrants seem to feel confident that God will not come to the rescue of those being oppressed. David ask God to arise to show that He does not approve of the pride and rebellion of the tyrant.

David is confident that his prayer for help is being heard and that God would arise to defend those against tyranny. Let us also be confident and remember the events of the Cross. Let us not take vengeance but be patient and keep in mind that after that Friday when Jesus was hung on the Cross, Sunday came and with Easter, there was victory.

At times, we may feel the same way as David did as expressed in today’s reading but know that God is always concerned and constantly working to set up the right outcome up for His people. He will make sure the right thing is done at the right time.

Just think of the events over the past year. People that don’t believe a certain way around the world are targeted in terror attacks and our own leaders don’t seem to have a clue what to do. Our freedoms seem to be eroding before our eyes as more power is given to oppressive groups who are intolerant of any view except their own. The media is against those who want to run their business with Christian principles. Places of business face being bullied by the IRS or the EPA.

This day with You Lord, we all have a story to tell about how we have needed You. Sometimes we got an immediate answer. Other times, we continued to cry out but You were setting things up and we got taught a lesson in patience. What You give in a plan for life is a treasure and the more we lose ourselves in this plan, the more passion we have. Lord, we need You now and we wait patiently as You set up things for the perfect outcome.

Much More to Give

Written about in the post Victory Over Enemies, David experienced God’s greatness and when he did, he gave God praise. Let us also recall the blessings we have received and give Him praise.

If going through difficulty, receive the hope only God can give, and believe He is big enough to provide victory today. He has much more to give.

At the end of the day, be assured by this clear picture of joy. Look up at the sky on a clear night. Realize that He is the one who made all those stars; more stars than we can count and He can bless us with joys more numerous than the stars.

Here is today’s inspirational video to help spur us on to victory: Today is the Day – Lincoln Brewster.

In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Victory Over Enemies

David won victory over his enemies. In the opening verses of Psalm 9, he says he will give thanks to the Lord with all his heart; he will tell of His wonderful deeds. David also said he will be glad and rejoice in the Lord; singing praises to His name.

God was with David but not his enemies. Their experience was destruction, displacement, and the memory of them would perish. Therefore, the reason we praise God is because He reigns forever. He rules with righteousness and judges with equity. He never forgets the needy and the hope of the afflicted never perishes.

The truth is that God is big enough and has given us all potential for victory. Our enemies in society today may consist of things like the breakup of the family unit, drugs, a culture in decline, or an economy that doesn’t benefit those in need. Our enemies are limited but God is unlimited. The ultimate lift to any day is knowing that the future is bright because of the reward God has for all that believe in His Son. Why not begin each day with this thought?

Each morning, we have a new start and as we get ready for each day, take a look in the mirror and put on your game face. It’s a battle to be a player in communities that need help with leadership to win the victory over the things that go counter to success like the things I mentioned above.

In times of trouble, we can be assured that God will never leave us alone to take on the challenges ahead so let us give thanks. This day with You Lord, we praise You and tell others of Your greatness. Also, we give praise to those who help us in life. We pray today that the seeds of praise we plant will grow and a harvest will come soon. Amen.

Sermon Thoughts – (12/13/2015)

Presented last week at the church I worship at was the message “O Come All Ye Faithful”.

Here is a link to the podcast which is live at 9:30 each Sunday morning or viewable at any time or place thereafter at this link: http://fumcwaco.sermon.net/main/main/20552819.

Over the next few weekends leading up to Christmas, the story will be retold using four famous carols as the backdrop of the greatest story ever told.

Jesus came to make the faithless faithful. As we approach Christmas day, let us worship Jesus for who He is, what He has done, and what He will do.

The best part of our life is in front of us so let us worship Him joyfully. No matter how tough things are now, we can sing the Christmas songs and offer our worship faithfully, triumphantly, and adoringly. Each song we sing gets us to higher place as we step ahead to where we want to be.

This day with God, share a thought from one of the great sermons in your community or from a podcast.

THE Way

We all want things to go our way but if our way is not God’s way then it leads to places we may not want to go.

Living the way Jesus teaches is following the right path; leading to meaningful places and making an impact on lives.

Here is a poem to inspire today as we step ahead with God’s plan, going His way, and bringing Him glory.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

We all want things
To go our way
But if not God’s way
Then is it okay?

Things in this world
Are sometimes built
Like a house of cards
What once flourished begins to wilt.

Deceivers lead themselves
And others down a path
Of troublesome times
And relentless wrath.

But one thing
Can be counted on
In the storms of life;
A clean slate, a new dawn.

With God there is a freedom
So we can live, give, and love.
A freedom that will speak and teach;
Laying out a clear path from above.

A new day where promises
Are built on the Truth.
Promises we can share;
Especially with our youth.

Making an impact on lives;
Providing a clear path to follow;
Living a live with integrity
So our purpose is never hollow.

Following the road laid out;
Knowing who to obey.
Being a good role model
And doing…
