You are God’s Temple

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? – 1 Corinthians 3:16

As the post “Healthy Living” points out, we should take care of ourselves because we are God’s temple. We should plant the seeds of Christ’s principles into our soul.  By adding the clear water of the Spirit, God will make these seeds grow into the fruits of the Spirit.

One idea to growing the fruits of the Spirit that can be shared with others is to build great memories that last forever to help in times of worry or anger. We can reminisce about good times or a song like “Oh My Soul by Casting Crowns” to fill our thoughts with peace and joy.

Healthy Living

Paul had to adapt his message to the capacity of his listeners as he explains giving them milk and not solid food. They were not ready because they still desired the things of this world. Reading in 1 Corinthians 3, the prove was in the jealousy and quarreling among them (v. 3).

A mature Christian desires the things of God by building their life on the foundation of Jesus Christ. Paul explains that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. For this reason, we should take care of our physical bodies and on the inside fill our soul with the principles of Christ. Like seeds planted in fertile soil, these principles along with the clear water of the Spirit will allow these seeds to grow into the fruits of the Spirit.

One idea to plant these seeds is to memorize scripture. The mind is amazing if we feed it healthy information. With multi-media nowadays, we can get overloaded with false, misleading, and negative information. Just like too much junk food for our physical body, our mental/spiritual well-being depends on feeding our minds with healthy information.

Filling the mind with scripture and exercising the physical body go hand in hand as we take care of God’s temple. Other ideas for feeding the mind with healthy information include listening to Christian music, regular Bible Study, and reading inspirational writings. Instead of seeking worldly wisdom, let us seek the wisdom that only God can give as we go to Him daily in prayer.

Take care of yourself because you are God’s temple. Plant the seeds of Christ’s principles into your fertile soul. Add the clear water of the Spirit and let God make them grow into fruit for yourself and your friends.

This day with You Lord, we are letting Jesus carry our burdens. This provides peace and joy for healthy living. Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we build our soul as we join with other believers and are willing to learn from each other. Keep us humble, teachable, diligent, upright, and always growing in faith. Amen.

Bringing Glory to the Father

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16

Within the post “Spirit of God Works in our Life” the thought is that the Spirit of God is at work searching for ways to counsel, inspire, and instruct us on a daily basis. As we live out our life, bad things happen but by accepting what Christ did for us on the cross, we are able to speak to the ONE who already has the answer to our problems. We have available to us what is needed to bring glory to the Father.

In our prayers, the Holy Spirit can direct our thoughts so they are absorbed into our heart and poured out in our actions at work, home, or wherever we are. Like the song Speak Life by Toby Mac inspires, let us speak hope, speak love, and let the Holy Spirit direct our thoughts. Then our light will shine and others will see our good works so that we bring glory to our Father in heaven.

Spirit of God Works in Our Life

Within 1 Corinthians 2, we learn that the Spirit of God works in our life to counsel, inspire, and instruct so we can fulfill our purpose in life. By accepting that Christ paid the price for our salvation, our life changes for the better now and continues to build momentum towards eternal victory.

The content of Paul’s message is Jesus Christ on the cross and the ensuing power received from the Holy Spirit for those who accept Christ in their heart. True wisdom then according to Paul is when a person is able to balance their Christian faith with life experiences in order to be more precise in their thoughts rather than only accepting one viewpoint and being closed minded to the amazing unseen qualities of God.

Paul’s purpose was to share the gospel message so that more would accept Christ in their heart and receive the Holy Spirit. He wanted more to discover this resource God gives through Christ and receive the power needed to fulfill the purpose God has for them.

The challenge for us then is to put God’s guidance into practice and it all starts with prayer. Prayer is our greatest power because we are speaking to the ONE who already has the answer.

This day with You Lord, we accept Your promise. We believe that the Holy Spirit will direct our thoughts so they will be absorbed internally and poured out as activities that we do at work or at home.  The Cross is our turnaround point and we now have momentum that will take us to the victory.  Amen.

Your Desire Can Transpire

This day with God, dream big!

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Create in your mind
Where you would like to go
What you would like to do
And this dream will grow.

Receive direction
From clear pictures you view
Planning out actions
For this dream to come true.

Mindful of each step,
Each stumbling block,
Each solution,
Each door to knock.

Sketched in your mind,
Firmed up like cement,
As your future turns
Into the present.

A natural result
When the dream does transpire
Because it has been
Your ultimate desire.
