The Best Part of My Day

This day with God, there is reason to be in a good mood. This poem was written to help gain momentum by spending some time in worship. Make it the best part of your day so it becomes a permanent part of your day and blesses you to the end!

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

The secular world
Offers illusion
Filling the void
With confusion.

But paying attention
To the Lord fills the void
Of human existence
So greatness is employed.

Today my friend,
There is a reason
To be in a good mood
For the Lord is leading.

Find joy in the sunrise,
In a day of leisure,
New places to go,
Memories to treasure.

Offering the best part
Of your day today
In worshiping;
In following the Way.

Confidence and Certainty

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1

God will work out the details that prove to our minds what the eyes can’t see and the result will be mission accomplished just like the examples mentioned in the post “Journey of Faith”.

This day with God, receive inspiration from the song Walk by Faith by Jeremy Camp. The confidence and certainty in God’s promises will build momentum towards a great future.

Journey of Faith

Peace comes by God’s acceptance; knowing that we belong because we have a faith that continues to grow strong. Reading today in Hebrews 11:1-12, faith and hope are connected by Jesus Christ.

As we obediently step ahead on this life journey by faith, God will work out the details that prove to our minds what the eyes can’t see and the result is mission accomplished just like the examples mentioned in this passage.

Noah was told of impending flood and had faith to take action on a mission of building an ark to save his family. People around him thought he was strange and he experienced rejection. Abraham went to an unfamiliar land leaving friends and family not knowing when God would fulfill His promises. Sarah was never able to have children yet was told she would have a son in her old age and as a result the whole Jewish nation is the product of a miracle birth.

Faith gives strength and courage to keep us going when times are tough. We think we have it tough today but the early Christians really had it tough. The picture below was taken on a trip I took to Europe after graduating from college. The coliseum in Rome is thought by many to be a site of the martyrdom of large numbers of believers during the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire.

This day with You Lord, we have faith in Your promises. Faith on Sunday will pull us through on Monday so we can step ahead into each day of the week. With faith in Your promises, what we thought to be impossible becomes possible. We see a great future and are building momentum by envisioning the possibilities. This hope keeps us looking forward to what You will do in the future. Amen

God is Big Enough Ministries

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God promised to those who love him. – James 1:12

In the post “Confident that Faith is Rewarded”, there are some ideas on how to prevent getting down when facing trials and tribulations. I’m reminded today of “God is Big Enough Ministries”.

It all started with the “God is Big Enough” sermon series my pastor gave shortly after going through treatments for cancer. He also hand out bracelets that became a simple tool to remind us of the victory that Christ brings in our life.

Being reminded of this victory changes momentum for our day and it’s a gift we can share with others so they can also be reminded of the victory too. For more on “God Is Big Enough Ministries” visit this link.

Confident that Faith is Rewarded

This day with God we will focus in on Hebrews 10:26-39. It will be an amazing day as we study the Word today and remain thankful for God’s provision; grateful for all we receive.

In today’s passage, we make note of some good that happened to the Hebrew Christians in the beginning after they first received the Light. But then they faced trials as they were insulted, persecuted, and their property was confiscated. It was through faith that they withstood.

The Hebrew Christians just needed confidence that their faith would be rewarded and this continues to be the need for Christians today. To keep our confidence, we need to view any current crisis as a faith builder for the future. To stay focused and not drift away but fix our eyes on our chief aim which is to be more like Christ. To maintain our poise during trials, we need to remember that we are saved by Grace. We need to maintain hope, encourage one another, go the extra mile, and finish strong.

This day with You Lord, help us to keep running the race and finish strong. We may go through some valleys. We face trials and tribulations in life but we constantly maintain hope because of the promises You give in Your Word for all who accept what Jesus did on the cross and come to You in prayer. Your Word provides stepping stones along the path and we are determined to follow that path, maintain our focus, and keep running toward the finish line as victorious. Amen
