Transformer

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2

In the post “Focused on the Purpose”, the take away was the need to get everyone pulling in the same direction. Moses had his dissenters as Korah, Dathan, and Abiram along with 250 Israelite leaders rose up to oppose.

God has a definite purpose for each of us and to fulfill the purpose, it takes bravery to stand up to those against us. They might plot against us because it threatens their way of life but with courage, we can stand up and be a transformer rather than a conformer.

It is impossible to satisfy everyone. We just need to set out to follow God’s way. Some will love us but some will hate us no matter what! The important thing is to know that it is God who has all authority as the song God You Reign by Lincoln Brewster points out.

Focused on the Purpose

This day with God, we will continue to be focused on the purpose of this blog as we continue to use it in helping to apply His Word in our life. Attentive today on Numbers 16, we note that Korah, Dathan, and Abiram along with 250 Israelite leaders rose up to oppose Moses.

The dissenting group was impatient and didn’t like being in the wilderness without receiving what they had been promised; a land flowing with milk and honey as an inheritance of fields and vineyards (v 14). They exaggerated the problems so they could take over the leadership.

Because they rebelled against the Lord’s appointed leadership, the earth was caused to open up and close over all those associated with Korah, Dathan, and Abiram including their families and possessions. They were swallowed up by an earthquake. Then, a fire consumed the 250 Israelite leaders who were also a part of the dissenting group.

The next day, an assembly gathered to oppose Moses and Aaron. The Lord started a plague among them but Moses and Aaron wanted the Lord to spare them so they made atonement for them. Before the plague stopped, 14,700 people died.

Explained in Family Times is the need to respect leadership and learn from history. The nation of Israel got into trouble every time they resisted the leadership of Moses and Aaron. In any society, there is a need for a chain of command with parents having authority in the home, teachers in the classroom, managers in the workplace, and civil servants in a community or nation. If this authority breaks down, society is in serious trouble.

Pride and ambition can create a situation where everyone is pulling in different directions but God can help a society pull together. We can be successful by being perceptive to the important purpose of bringing more into a relationship with Jesus Christ.

What are some ways to get people fired up with passion, enthusiasm, and purpose to win souls for Christ? One idea is to mix the mysteries of the Spirit with knowledge for the mind. Pray, receive directions, and desire to present it to others for the purpose of building up the house of the Lord.

This day Lord You have all authority and this fact pulls us together to follow in the same direction. Help us today to be perceptive to the important purpose You want us to act upon each day … bringing more into a relationship with You through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Amen.

Accept the Help

In Numbers 14, the people rebelled again Moses and his leadership because of the tremendous challenge of overtaking the giants in Canaan. There are giants we face in life today like financial, health, and relationship issues that make us doubt. They take away our confidence but God is big enough to overcome these doubts if we accept the help. This day with God, join in on the praise from today’s wonderful song at and be inspired to overcome any doubt.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

The take away as explained in the post “Trust in Divine Power” is to trust God always. Failing to trust God brings on a greater problem than the original problem.

Caleb and Joshua understood the advantages of having God on their side. They understood that they were touched by divine power and protected from enemies.

We should have the same mindset today. Let us be one in Christ and inspired by today’s song Lead Me by Sanctus Real. This day with God, accept the divine power to lead in the right direction.

Precious Blood of Jesus

This poem inspired by Leviticus 17 was written to encourage devotion to God’s Word, to prayer, and to follow the instruction received from the Holy Spirit.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Blood has importance
In supporting life
So God choose it
For His people to thrive.

For atonement,
He was sacrificed
As blood was shed
By Jesus Christ

Through this sacrifice,
We overcome shame
And are linked to power
That brings praise to His name.

We are justified,
Redeemed, washed, sanctified
And a bright future
Is amplified.

Devoted to advice
Given by God’s word,
During prayer,
As we are spurred.

Ultimate Destination Beyond our Imagination

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. – James 1:19

A take away as explained in the post “Keep Focusing on the Destination” is to obey God’s Word and submit to the authority of this Word along with the authority of God’s appointed leaders in government, in the work place, or within a family.

The Lord gave the people reassurance of His love and guidance by instructing Moses to have the Israelites make tassels on the corners of their garments with a blue cord on each tassel which would remind them to submit to the Lord’s authority.

Today, there are many ways to remind us of God’s authority and leadership. One way is in music like the song I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe. Use this song today to remind of the ultimate destination beyond our imagination.
