Questions for Reflection for Study of Numbers 26-32

Over the last few weeks, we’ve shared some thoughts and ideas from the journey through the book of Numbers.

Within the post “Refreshment for the Body and Soul”, we noted that God did something amazing through Moses and Aaron as water gushed out from a rock to supply the need for water to the people as they wandered in the desert. The only problem is that Moses and Aaron took the credit for this miracle rather than giving the credit to God.

Written about in the post “The Outcome of Faith”, was some thoughts on how the Israelites started winning their battles when they rejoiced in God for giving them the necessities of life and they praised Him. They had found a pattern for victory by gaining knowledge about their enemies, following God’s instructions for victory, and carrying out these instruction with faith.

The post “Building Integrity” points out that integrity doesn’t blow in the wind and vary to best meet our own desires. Integrity is there as a standard for us and it sets us free. Either we have it or we don’t. Our aim should be to become aware of mistakes, confess them, learn from them, and make the necessary adjustments so they do not happen again.

A take away from the post “The Future is in His Hands” is the need to be truthful when telling others what they don’t want to hear. We must speak the truth knowing that God holds the future in His hands.

Explained in “Flourish in Blessings” was the bright future for Israel because God was with them. Because of our acceptance of Christ, God is with us today and this changes momentum for our future.

In the post “Keeping Our Eyes on the ONE Who Brings the Son Shine”, brought out was that God was angry because some began to lose their focus and worship idols. Like many organizations, teams, or societies, it’s their lack of focus that has a way of causing havoc and becoming the real enemy. It’s an enemy from within.

The reading plan below will be used to hold me accountable in sharing about God’s word over the next few weeks. As I share about my study, it’s important to have a plan. I’m thankful that Jesus is God’s plan for us and by accepting Christ as Savior; we have taken the steps necessary to make this day with God amazing!

Questions for Reflection

Numbers 26
In the second census which tribes have lost the most men? How has the number been lessened? What is the significance of the small notes of history tucked in the numbering process (See verses 9-11, 60-62, and 64-65)? How has God fulfilled His promise to the people?

Numbers 27
What is God’s provision for the inheritance of a man who had died leaving no sons? How is Joshua commissioned? What authority is he given? What is the main qualification (See 11:37-29; 14:4-10, 30)?

Numbers 28-29
What Special days require offerings? Why do you think there is such detail about offerings? What can you offer the Lord today?

Numbers 30
What privileges does the woman have in making vows? Where is the limit of these privileges? From this chapter, what is revealed about the Israelites’ concept of vows?

Numbers 31
Why are the people of Israel to avenge the Midianites (See Chap 25)? To what extent is there to be vengeance and victory? To what extent do you continually purify the area in your life which snares you most often?

Numbers 32
What is the proposition put to Moses and Eleazer by the sons of Reuben and Gad? Why does Moses hesitate? What is the promise to Moses (See Joshua 22:1-6)? How are they committed to the whole nation of Israel? How are you committed to your church and fellowship group?

Worship the ONE True God

This day with God, join in on the praise to get a great start to your day and the week ahead!

Mark Shields's avatarThis Day With God - A Spiritual Journey

Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. Rather, worship the LORD your God; it is He who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies. –2 Kings 17:38-39

This day with God will be amazing because we have the chance to put our focus on the ONE true God. If we pay attention to the world, disorder will expand to fill the void of human failure. Instead, let us worship daily with songs like I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe and put our attention on God so order will fill the void with greatness.

In the post “Keeping Our Eyes on the ONE Who Brings the Son Shine”, God was angry because some began to lose their focus and worship idols. Like many organizations, teams, or societies, it’s their lack of focus that has a way…

Joyful Blessings

This day with God, be grateful for joyful blessings and be inspired by a video on the song “Counting Every Blessing” by Rend Collective.

Mark Shields's avatarThis Day With God - A Spiritual Journey

Let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. – Psalm 5:11

The post “Flourish in Blessings” explained a bright future for Israel because God was with them. Because of our acceptance of Christ, He is with us today and this changes momentum for our future.

We can share about this momentum shift with others so they can also receive the victory. Take inspiration from songs like Counting Every Blessing by Rend Collective. Value your blessings and keep them as mementos. Hold them in your thoughts, share them with others, and use them as stepping stones to an amazing place in the future.

Clean and Pure

Thoughts and actions of the past may keep us from coming into God’s presence but there is no need for anguish. This day with God, let us continue our desire to be faithful. Let us find joy in our trust in Jesus.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Like the snow covers
The rough ground created,
God’s grace covers so we
Are exonerated.

There may be setbacks
But with God’s provision,
There are no limitations
To our grand vision.

Because of Jesus,
We have a clean slate
And can double down
As He carries our weight.

We can come back
At life differently
Because he loves us
Unconditionally.

For we are no longer
In a state of disgrace
But ready to take on
The challenges we face.

Inspired by “This Day with God Devotional – Leviticus 22

Photo – I took this photo while looking out my garage. It was the first snow of 2018. Like the snow that covers the rough ground created from drought and erosion, God’s grace covers the rough spots along our journey. As written about in the post, sin was the obstacle to meeting…
