Thoughts From Personal Bible Study

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from 2 Samuel 19. David’s men had killed his son Absalom who wanted to take over as king from his father. David was down about his son and needed someone to help get over grieving for his bad son.

Things don’t always work out how we want and that’s when we need someone to lift us up or set us straight instead of bringing us further down. I remember an old TV show called "The Andy Griffith Show". Andy had a way of talking to people in a tactful way and in this one episode, Barney needed some encouragement. Here is the video link: The Andy Griffith Show – Andy Saves Barney’s Morale. Is there a friend you know who could use use some good encouraging words?

Thoughts From Personal Bible Study

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from 2 Samuel 15-16. David’s Son Absalom wanted to take over as king and used lies and deception. The lesson learned for me is that it’s important to ask God for help so that we get advice from people with integrity and watch out for those that try to manipulate for personal gain.

David shows us how we should be patient and find comfort that God will get us through those tough times. We should keep thinking about how God loves us. Know that He will bring us through. Here is a link to a video Never Too Broken to Mend – Larnelle Harris.  We can learn from difficult experiences, things can get better, and we can be lifted up high to do great things in the future.

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from 2 Samuel 8. God gave David victories wherever he went. He steamrolled his enemies like an NFL running back. God employs his servants in various ways for victory and it’s up to us to find the role to play on His team.

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from 2 Samuel 6 because for me it teaches about common sense. Uzzah showed disrespect to God by touching the ark and his life served as a warning to others that there is a right way and a wrong way to do things. We can learn from the mistakes of others to help us live a longer and happier life. Check out a funny video from a Christian comedian named Tim Hawkins. Here is the link:

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from 2 Samuel 2. I tried to learn the principle of guidance as I read verses 1-2. I also looked at a video to help inspire more about who to go to for guidance just like David did in this reading. Here is the link: Gentle Shepherd – Gaither Vocal Band.

Going to the right person and doing the right things gave David success and doing the same can lead each of us to success so use the greatest power by asking help from God in Jesus name. Trust, be patient, and listen; God can see the big picture and answer with guidance.
