Multi-Media Bible Study Guide

Years ago, I attended a small group bible study and one guy in the group gave me a bible study guide. It’s a guide that has a daily reading and questions to help you think about and understand each reading. I still follow this guide today and use it as a tool for daily Bible reading.

With the expansion of the internet and the ability to get so much information today, I’ve decided to start a spreadsheet of my readings along with links to videos, pictures, and quotes that add “food for thought” to each reading. A copy is located above in the SkyDrive. It’s in the study guides folder and the spreadsheet is named Multi-Media Bible Study. Any of you are welcome to help develop this with me. Also, if you have thoughts or ideas about other types of resources, email lifetransgroup@live.com.

As I mentioned last week, bible study is like a workout helping us step ahead to produce more confidence, push each other, and build a winning tradition by accepting the love of God in Christ. Thank you all for keeping me accountable to daily Bible reading. Have a great weekend.

Favorite Bible Reading this Week

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from Psalm 49. To me it reinforced what Pastor Wayne talked about in his sermon this past Sunday. What really makes the difference is our souls. When all is said and done, the true victory is not wealth or fame but the salvation of our souls.

That’s why I think Bible study is so important. It allows us to grow deeper roots so we are able to absorb the spiritual nourishment we need and are well grounded when the storms of life hit.

Former quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys Roger Staubach once said, “Nothing good comes in life or athletics unless a lot of hard work has preceded the effort. Only temporary success is achieved by taking short cuts“.  Bible study is similar to an athletic workout; helping us step ahead to produce more confidence, pushing each other, and building a winning tradition by accepting the love of God in Christ.

Favorite Bible Reading This Week

My favorite Bible reading this past week was from Psalm 45. I tried to capture some of the excitement of the psalmist and it made me think about a video I recently saw. Here is the link: I Shall Wear a Crown – Gaither Vocal Band. Every church service is a time to be filled with excitement as the congregation celebrates the victory of Christ in their hearts and becomes clothed with virtues that are useful throughout a lifetime and beyond.

Talking about Thoughts From Sermon

I liked the part of the sermon when Pastor Steve talked about service before security. The sermon pointed out that every day can be an adventure if you feel you have a mission or purpose. Something small may lead to something big. It may be something as small as deciding to say a prayer before dinner with your family.

Also Cal Ripken was mentioned in the sermon. He was there every day for his team. In 1995, he broke Lou Gehrig’s record for consecutive baseball games played. Ripken surpassed the 56-year-old record when he played in his 2,131st game.  He was reliable and “showed up for work” everyday. In the same way, if we are there for those close to us, we too can be called an Iron Man.
