Lamentations 2:14-22

Passage Lookup – Read or Listen

What has happened to the Lord’s chosen people? What is particularly devastating about the slaughter and deportation of the youth (See verse 1:18 and 2:21)?

This passage helps us to understand the consequences of wrong doing. One generation pays for the failing of another. In this passage, the children are dying in the streets by famine and young are falling by the sword because of the mistakes made in the prior generations.

Path

Those following in our footsteps need us to make wise choices now to prepare them for the path; ways to help are God’s word, the Holy Spirit speaking in the heart, and experiences from the past. Here is a video that highlights these tools:
Word of God Speak – Mercy Me.  My hope is that it inspires you as you spend this day with God.

Today, it is up to leaders in our present generation to make good decisions for the future. Prayer can give relieve, a cure for every difficulty. In a part of your prayer today, ask that leaders today walk humbly before God so that a good foundation is laid for the future.

Lamentations 2:1-13

Passage Lookup – Read or Listen

What are the consequences of the adult’s actions for their children? How do you live for your children’s sake?

In this passage, the Lord, the ancient defender of Israel, has given up his people to their awful fate. He withdraws his protection. This passage lets us know how important God is in our own lives, in the lives of people we know, and for our nation.

One message received from a sermon of my Pastor Steve Ramsdell is that we must confront our wrong choices and choose God’s invitation, leadership, help, and forgiveness.

My hope is that God continues to validate within you the importance of your relationship with Him. After reading today’s passage, I’m asking for God’s protection and help with all aspects of life; family, finances, and friendships. I want the creator of all the majestic wonders of the world; the author from beginning to end to be with me always. How about you!

What can those who observe the grieving woman learn from her sorrow? What images show the extent of the suffering?

Jerusalem is represented as a grieving woman in this passage. After reading, one should desire to be on God’s side. Everyone faces times of difficulty or sorrow. It is during these times that our thoughts should be led to the cross of Christ, pray for help, and cheerfully follow Him.

Many know what is right to do; putting first things first, obeying our heavenly father, and putting in the effort day by day but the hard part is actually doing it.

The most important aspect of life is our relationship with God. My prayer is that you will be blessed by this video: Lead Me To The Cross – Hillsong.  My prayer today is that God will continue to validate within me the beliefs that help to be more disciplined and do the things that need to be done.

In what areas of life do you tend to ignore the consequences of
unethical behavior? Why? Which do you excuse in others? Why?

Jerusalem collapsed when the Babylonian army devastates her in 586 BC. The leaders had not heeded Jeremiah’s warning and didn’t change course. In our own lives, there are warning signs we need to notice. Here is a video about how to pay attention to warning signs:  Search Me Lord – Gaither Vocal Band

We win spiritual battles because of the difference maker; Christ whose light of grace keeps shining ahead of us to make sure the path is clear to victory. In prayer today, ask God to search your soul. Ask him to take out what shouldn’t be there.
