Lamentations 3:40-66

Passage – Read or Listen

When have you recently heard God say, “Do not fear!”? What has been your response?

In this passage, we get images of a nation in a dire predicament. The only way out is to examine the situation, ask for help, and lift up needs to God. Christ has told us of a helper that will be with us forever. When weary, God is near. His grace brings victory so celebrate by stepping out in new and adventurous ways with boldness.

List any videos you are reminded of as you read this passage. Here is a link to one for this reading: He Is – Mark Schultz . My hope is that you will be
moved by this video and that it inspires you as you spend this day with God.

Spend some time in prayer today. Take in the breath of mercy and breathe out praises to God. Give thanks for the Redeemer who has cleared the way to help; for it is God who will hear our needs and give the courage to step out in a new way.

Account for the change in mood at verse 21. On what basis is there hope for restoration? What is required to experience it?

Receive inspiration from this point made by my pastor Steve Ramsdell: “Hope is like an anchor. During the storms of life, hope helps us to hold course. We then find out the nature of our faith, the strength of our commitment, and the level of our maturity”.

Praise God even in the storms of life for He is always there and tomorrow there is hope for a better day. He is an anchor during difficulty; building individuals with persistence, understanding, and trust.

Today set your heart on things above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Think of good that has happened in your past. In part of your prayer today, thank God for a chance to reflect on the past. Ask that these memories build a faith that keeps you anchored during storms.

Lamentations 3:1-20

Passage Lookup – Read or Listen

Think of when you have experienced affliction? What has been your response?  What images depict the effects of God’s wrath (focus on the verbs)?

Jeremiah writes about the misery of his people. It is during difficulty that we come to a cross road where a clear choice is to be made. We can follow the road sign that leads to failure or we can follow the road sign that leads to success.

The problems we go through in life are not stop signs; they are guidelines and we can still find joy because it is at those times that God will produce a sure sign to success. Ask God to give you the sign that leads to success. Ask Him to give you the will to follow the path He has laid down.
