Ezekiel 2:1-3:15

Passage Lookup

In this passage, the Holy Spirit speaks to Ezekiel and sends him on a mission. He is to receive the truths of God as food for the soul and share it with the children of Israel. The Spirit of Christ will speak to you; giving courage as you stand ready to do what he instructs. You are never alone because God will always be with you. No task is greater than God’s power to help accomplish it.

The indwelling Spirit is continually with you so step out courageously to do anything feared and keep on doing it… that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear. This day with God, humbly pray for the courage to do all that He has you to do.

Ezekiel 1

Passage Lookup

Ezekiel was one of the temple priests deported to Babylon in 597 B.C. after Jerusalem fell because of sin against God. In a vision, he saw where God dwells. There was a brilliant light and like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around God.

It’s challenging to interpret the meaning of this reading but we can learn beneficial lessons from subjects we cannot fully understand. One lesson today is that God loves us so much that He sent His son to suffer, bleed, and die for our sins and that by accepting Christ as Savior, we can be with God in that brilliant place described in today’s reading. The second lesson is that when we accept Christ as Savior, we become connected to the amazing power of the Holy Spirit that this vision from Ezekiel introduces.

God dwells in a perfect place and we do not. That’s why He sent Jesus as Savior who changes not only our circumstances but changes us as individuals from the inside out. My Pastor made a point in a sermon once that we should see our preferred future and build momentum for life by envisioning the possibilities; looking forward to what God will do for us. Although I might not understand fully this vision of Ezekiel written about in today’s passage, I can pray today that my actions will continue to build momentum as I follow the teaching of Jesus Christ for a future with a different outlook and a promising connection to an amazingly powerful God.

Matthew 18:15-35

Passage Lookup

The most important aspect of life is our relationship with God. My prayer is that you will be blessed by this video: What A Friend We Have in Jesus – Alan Jackson.

If we are having an issue with someone, we should try to work it out one on one. Forgiveness is so important in the Christian community because God forgives us for our debts and if we can’t forgive a fellow brother or sister, why should we expect to be forgiven by God.

The glory of friendship is realizing that someone else believes in and cares about you. Jesus is a personal friend who is pulling for you and ready to help in a time of need.  I encourage you today to ask in prayer for this ability to forgive. After all, that’s what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ.

Matthew 18:1-14

Passage Lookup

Group of five happy children jumping outdoors.

In this passage, verses 10-14 are about finding those that have strayed from the path and this reflects the other side of verses 5-9 which is about leading others down the right path. The lesson for me is to daily learn and apply what Christ teaches. Like a child with enthusiasm that glows, radiates, and permeates; I should live each day in the same way in order to capture the interest of those that hear what I say, read what I write, or see what I do.

List any videos you are reminded of as you read this passage. Here is a link to one for this reading: The Motions by Matthew West. My hope is that it inspires you as you spend this day with God. We shouldn’t go through life just going through the motions but have a passion for what we do; continuing to learn, being humble, being open, and showing others the path God has laid out for us.

Today, I’m praying that I daily study and examine where my heart is so I can humbly understand and accept the lessons God teaches. I’m praying that God’s lessons found in the Bible, at church, and through experiences of life are enthusiastically applied in homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods; spreading throughout the world. I’m asking that you make it a part of your prayer today also.
