Ezekiel 10 – 12 Questions for Reflection

Posted on October 3, 2011 by Mark Shields

The questions below can be used to stimulate thought as you spend each day with God this week:

What might be your reaction to repeated visions of God’s glory? In what way do you approach God? Why?

How do the princes regard themselves? What image of protection for themselves do they cite? How does Ezekiel show its futility? What hope is introduced?

What does Ezekiel do by day? At evening? How important is it that Ezekiel be obedient in every detail?

Billy Graham once said that when wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost. The Lord hates sin. His wishes are that we want goodness and not evil. Here is a Video: House of Gold by Mark Lowry, Michael English, and David Phelps. Take a few minutes while watching or listening to this video and think of ways our society can make a stand against mediocrity and live a life of excellence.

By accepting God’s Plan for Us, the right steps have been taken to be set free by saying no to anything that damages character or compromises integrity but says yes to God’s gift of Christ. This day with God, I humbly pray for integrity and reaffirm my “YES” in Christ. I hope you will also. Let us realize that no matter what happens in life, God loves you and me and that’s all that matters.

This is a vision of Ezekiel going through the temple and describing the idol worship taking place. The lesson learned from today’s passage for me is to never turn our back on God and always be in awe of the One who gave it all. We should confront wrong choices by choosing His help and forgiveness. No matter what happens in life, God loves you and me and that’s all that matters.

Pastor Wayne said once in a sermon at my church that the greatest mission field begins on the inside with our heart – to love the lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Then we can make a difference to our closest mission field which is our family and friends. For more points or thoughts to share with others, visit the podcast at this link: Sermon Podcast. Add a comment of a point from a sermon you have heard that touched your heart.

As learned in today’s reading, in Old Testament times people couldn’t do all that was required so they turned to idols for help. This day with God, we can be thankful for God’s plan in sending Jesus to lighten our load and all we have to do is believe, pray, receive the plan, and work the plan.

By accepting Jesus as Savior, the right steps have been taken to make this day with Him amazing! At this link: God’s Plan for Us is a word document that can be read, downloaded and signed by anyone that would like to accept God’s plan.

List any videos you are reminded of as you read this passage. Here is a link to one for this reading. My hope is that it inspires you as you spend this day with God: Word of God Speak by MercyMe. Throughout the Bible we see that when God was with people, life was good. When they were separated, life was one big unexpected and demoralizing failure.

So far in the book of Ezekiel, God has been patient but now Ezekiel points out that the time is getting near for the day of destruction. Famine, war, and disease would result. Gold and silver and things of value would be carried away into Babylon.

A downfall is agonizing but what often happens is that it teaches the best lesson because the pain has been felt to the point that no one ever wants it again. Today, I’m taking note of just how bad things can be when God is not on our side and in prayer thanking God for what can’t be taken away; His love through Christ, hope for a better future, and our faith in a God that is in total control.
