Ezekiel 27

Tyre is personified as a ship in Ezekiel 27 that becomes shattered by the sea and sinks to the bottom. Once abounding in wealth, Tyre forgot about the ONE who gave them wealth in the first place.

In reflecting upon today’s passage, the destruction of Tyre reminds that we are to be good stewards and should use what God gives us for the benefit of all. When success comes, we are susceptible to setting our hearts upon riches and forgetting God but it is during these times that we should pay special attention to praising God, continuing to put Him first, knowing our specific mission, and using our individual strengths to glorify Him.

A point in a sermon of Rev. Mark Welshimer at my church was that we should discover who we are; the strengths God has given each of us and then acting on them. God believes we all have something special to offer if we just take the first step and rely on Him to carry us. Click on the video below or this link: He Will Carry You – Gaither Vocal Band. This day with God will be amazing because He’s there with you to help carry any burdens that may be in your life.

Let us give thought to our greatest strength which is finding out the assured way of God and setting out in that direction. Let us make it a part of our prayers to ask that we fulfill the blessed destiny He has arranged for us.

Ezekiel 26

Passage Lookup

If you’re gathering honey, you are careful around the                                                          beehive and you don’t stir up the Beehivebees. If you want a pleasant and good life, you carefully live by the principles of God; they won’t let you down. When pursuing Godly wisdom, you will be more likely to know whose side to be on and listen to the right people. You will follow the right leader because you will listen to those with wholesome values and morals. Like a magnet attracting iron, you will attract treasures for the soul because the elements of God’s principles are at work in you.

This day with God, we read that Israel had been a nation of beauty, strength, and wealth but God’s anger can turn great nations into dreadful piles of scrap. God now pronounces complete destruction on Tyre because it was secretly pleased with the fall of Israel. The nation had been great but now will be made lowly because of their selfish jealousy of Israel and their love of the world for their happiness. This passage teaches that the fall of others should awaken us to realize that it is not earthly gain that is of most importance but it is our faith in the one and only God that is of great worth.

Is there a plan of action God is giving you today? God’s principles are essential for life and His angels often protect from enemies. This day with God will be amazing because we have the chance to pray to follow His will and yield to a Godly perspective; understanding that no matter what happens in life, God loves His people and that is all that matters.

Ezekiel 25

In this passage, four nations are judged. The lesson for me is that it’s best to mind your own activities; get enthused about God, and leave it to Him to settle the score. Not get hyped up about revenge or be glad for the hardships of others and take advantage of them when they are down on their luck. Instead, step ahead of competition by daily getting better.

Today, I’m praying for hope giving optimism during difficulty, faith giving courage during times of doubt, and love bringing victory during times of despair. Each day I wake up, I can still dream and believe because God can make anything new.

Ezekiel 24

Passage Lookup

This day with God, we read the parable of Jerusalem being besieged. It teaches that the people should have listened to the warnings; they should have made the changes needed. The greatest concern is not keeping the rules but seeing the larger truths to which they point. Then one is in a place where they desire to follow the rules and heed the lessons of failure. Jerusalem didn’t see the larger truths and their miseries increased to the point where Jerusalem was being leveled to the ground.

Eventually wrongdoing is punished but in the meantime, it’s hard to accept when justice is not served and the innocent are harmed. Life doesn’t seem fair at times. People die at a young age because of the wrongs of someone else. Examples include people being killed by the negligence of a drunk driver or helpless children dying as brought out in the trial last June of Casey Anthony.

In a sermon once, my pastor Steve Ramsdell said that life is about choices and it’s up to us to take in what is good for our body and soul. Choose to be transformed, forgive instead of hold a grudge, hunger for God, seek freedom, and live a fulfilling life through Jesus. On this day filled with ones (11/11/11), add another by making God your number ONE. Be thankful that He is there for us in our sorrow and afflictions. Today, I’m praying for the right thoughts and a heart that is ready to follow and learn. There is always hope for a better day and no matter what happens in life, God loves us and that is all that matters.
