See, Believe, and Achieve

As we wrap up this year and look forward to next year, here is the ninth post from the “God’s Plan for Us” series written a few years ago. What do you remember about a teacher, coach, mentor, parent, grandparent, pastor, or Sunday school teacher that has made a difference in your life? In this writing, I share about a talk I still remember from my high school baseball coach many years ago.

Being able to create in your mind where you would like to go or what you would like to do can turn a dream into active plans that will help make it come true. The beginning to planning and taking action starts with sharp and clear pictures of each step, each obstacle, each solution, and each character trait needed. In a way, creating in your mind a picture of what you aspire to do moves the future into the present. A person is not surprised when it comes true because they’ve already seen and experienced it in their dreams.

I’m reminded of a story a high school baseball coach told his team the day before a tournament. It was a story of a person who was not well. The person was bed ridden for several weeks and since he loved playing golf, decided to rest in his bed dreaming about…

Inspiration for Your God Given Purpose

As we are getting near the end of the year and are thinking about next year, I thought it would be a good time to post from the “God’s Plan for Us” series written a few years ago. In this post, an example is given of the steps that were taken to start this devotional blog site. These same steps can be a model that can be modified and used as a tool for your own God given purposes.

In anything we do, there should be a purpose. In a grammar  lesson in eighth grade Mrs. O’Neill said, “Paul, give me a sentence with a direct object.” Paul replied, “Everyone thinks you are the best teacher in the school.” “Thank you, Paul,” responded Mrs. O’Neill, “but what is the object?” “To get the best mark possible,” said Paul.  When we have a purpose, it reduces frustration and keeps us on a steady course. It increases our enthusiasm by  making our life meaningful with a future and a hope. We are able to concentrate on a target and we are able to work better as a team because there is cooperation to proceed in the same direction.

All teams are made up of individuals. Think about it: if every individual on a team is getting a hit in baseball or softball, the team will score a lot…

Empowerment to Fulfill the Dreams God has Given

As we are getting near the end of the year and start thinking about next year, here is a post from the “God’s Plan for Us” series. This writing has some ideas for giving direction to the dreams God gives us.

I want to tell you about a true success story. It’s about two farmers that developed something we all enjoy today. One farmer was good at producing eggs. He had it down to a science and was really good at it. Another farmer had focused on developing a great herd of dairy cows. They were both good at what they did but they were even better when they mixed their strengths together to make batches of ice cream – known as the best ice cream in the country, Blue Bell.

There are so many lessons to be learned from businesses, from sports, science, and other disciplines. It’s so important to know what your strengths are and be confident. To know what others strengths are and to complement them. But of most importance is to lay claim to the ONE who unites us all, Jesus Christ who gives us…

He is With Us and the Impossible is Now Possible

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. – Luke 2:4-7

The historical event of the manger teaches us that God uses everything to fulfill His purposes. Joseph and Mary were not beyond help because God does not have limits. Whatever situation you get into is not beyond help either. – Pastor Wayne Williams

This day with God, we can passionately believe in what we are doing, let nothing hold us up in our work, and know that one day at a time the impossible will become possible. Here is a video to inspire our day: New Kid in Town – Keith Whitley.

May Peace Increase

And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee. He took with him Mary, his fiancée, who was obviously pregnant by this time. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. – Luke 2:4-9

The things that happen in our world make us have questions but there is ONE who has provided the answer. At Christmas, the answer comes in a Savior and it changes everything. All can celebrate how God has worked in His mysterious way to reshape our world and when Jesus is the center, peace is assured. – Thoughts from sermon of Steve Ramsdell, 12-21-2014

This day with God, there are answers that will wash away every disappointment, joy to dissolve every sorrow, and love to ease every pain.
