Glorify God

I’m currently reading and studying in Genesis 11 about the Tower of Babel. It’s about the world rejecting God and believing they have all the answers. Even today when history has proven the strategy of secularism a failure, after all the struggles the world has faced, including wars, disasters, and disease; pride keeps society going in the wrong direction.

Things can get messy in life but God is there to help us pick up the messes. There is a constant need to search our heart and know why we do certain things. Is it to glorify God or to make a name for ourselves?

If it is to glorify God, then there are no limits to what can be accomplished. To get us thinking in this direction, here is today’s video: The Stand – Hillsong.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. – Psalm 16:8

Are We Building Our Own Towers of Babel Today?

Instead of relying on God, the world began to rely on themselves as with the account in Genesis 11. The world began to populate, there was only one language, and there was not much strive. Things were going so well that people believed they didn’t need God. Pride made them want to prove that nothing was impossible and they desired to build a city with a tall structure named the Tower of Babel.

Because pride got the best of humanity, the punishment was confusion through their language so they couldn’t understand each other. People then began to scatter over the face of the earth and the building of the great city with the Tower of Babel was never finished.

Isn’t it interesting how even today sectors of humanity believe they have all the answers and don’t have a need for God? This belief that rejects God yet has all the answers is called secularism. Society believes they don’t need God any more. All that is needed is a government to run health care and tell us how to live.

Are we building our own towers of Babel today? Pride wants us to buy houses we can’t pay for, cars we can’t afford, make decisions on who lives or who dies. On the other hand, God’s way is to simplify, get good at a few things, do our part, and let God do the amazing part. That’s when amazing things happen because God can take accomplishment and multiply it to levels beyond our imagination.

Pride can destroy if there is a lack of attention to God first. This day with God, let’s do great things with God’s help; build things with His guidance that helps us understand Him more and apply His principles to our life.

Creation and Renovation

I’m currently reading and writing about Genesis on this blog. Recently, I wrote about creation, the problem, and the solution for a brighter future. I put this poem together with these thoughts in mind. I’m thankful that Jesus is God’s plan for us and by accepting Him as Savior; we have taken the steps necessary to make this day with Him amazing!

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

We were wonderfully made
And so was the universe
What God said became reality
His power dispersed

God said let there be light
And light was in view
He gave food and water
So things of nature grew

Beaches of sand
Timeless existence
Mountains high and mighty
Sunsets in the distance

Then He made us
To watch over His creation
But there was estrangement
And need for arbitration

So Christ died on the cross
Our debt had been financed
Love had looked at us
So our future was enhanced

Step Ahead Anyway

Many have great ideas that are put into words to share with others. It may seem disappointing at times because the ideas are not always put to good use. It may take years before ideas are accepted and put to good use.

One great aspect of being able to take ideas and put them into words is that readers of the future will be able to grow the idea from the seed that has been planted. Someday this idea has the potential to grow into something extraordinary because God knows each of us by name and that makes all the difference.

Many times, greatness is not realized right away but it’s important to understand that with God there is unlimited potential. Everyone may have doubts at times but this should not stop them from getting away from their comfort zone. They should keep stepping ahead because what they say, write about, and do today may take several generations to be fully accomplished.

God knows each of us by name and has a place for everyone. This is important because positive results are assured when our place is discovered and we are constantly taking action to improve. Here’s a video that motivates toward this attitude of stepping ahead: Move – MercyMe.

Step Ahead with His Unlimited Power

In Genesis 10, there is a list of names; descendants from the three sons of Noah. Most of the names are only listed at this one place in the Bible. Most were not people that did anything exceptional during their lifetime or something that shaped the future in any way.

That’s the whole story of the Bible. It is not great people doing things for God; it is just regular people doing extraordinary things because of an amazing God. God knows each of us by name and has a place for each of us in this world. That is why it is important to take the initiative in being prepared for each day. Being the best “you” everyday so positive results are assured.

When our place in this world is discovered and we are constantly taking action to improve on a daily basis, that’s when we make a difference. Many of the phrases to characterize the people listed in this passage are written because of what their ancestors did in history. What is started in a lifetime may not come to full attainment until several generations in the future.

The thing is, if we start something now with ideas God is giving us to put down in words, we must not be discouraged if the idea is not immediately accepted and put to use. If it is put into words, the seed has been planted and some day it may grow into something extraordinary because God knows each of us by name and that makes all the difference.

This day with God, we have an efficient and effective way to meet with Him through the Holy Spirit; every activity, every conversation, every problem, and even every thought has a connection with God through the Holy Spirit. Therefore, let us explore, dream, and discover. Doubt can’t stop us if we accept God’s unlimited power to help step ahead.
