Prepared Through Prayer

Reading in Genesis 42, Joseph’s dream of many years ago comes to fruition. Have you ever had something occur and you feel like you have been there before? It’s a déjà vu moment and we feel prepared for the challenge. That’s what vision can do for us as we practice the future in the present. This poem is inspired with these thoughts in mind. Have a wonderful weekend!

Joseph had numerous dreams
Those many years ago
And the ability God gave him
Made his prominence grow.

The ability to see the future
Allowed him to be prepared.
Every detail of what was needed
Could be mapped out and shared.

The dreams prepared his mind
For his mind had been there before.
He was prepared for the challenge;
Aware of what to look for.

God works through His people
So as you pray each day,
Question what it is to do,
Take action towards the Way.

Put ideas into practice
By planning out the details.
Knowing the steps to be taken
And ready for any travails.

Like in the life of Joseph,
Dream about the future
And take action to prepare
So all affairs runs smoother.

Every detail mapped out;
All necessary actions taken
So dreams come to fruition
And the enemy is badly shaken.

Hope will become reality

Sermon Thoughts

you-shall-receive-power-holy-spirit2

The message last week at the church I worship was titled “Sweet Dreams – What Keeps You Up At Night? Am I Changing”? Here is a link to the podcast which is live at 9:30 central time each Sunday morning or viewable at any time or place thereafter at this link: http://fumcwaco.sermon.net/main/main/20304944

The aim for followers of Christ should always be that no one remains the same but that everyone is changed and the Spirit is aflame. This weekend, share a thought from one of the great sermons in your community or from a podcast.

Step Ahead in Faith Towards Our Purpose

We have a much better shot at victory if we have a plan and through Jesus, God has given us a plan. Life may disappoint at times but the good news is that there is something better ahead if we step ahead in faith, choose to make every day count, seize the moment to be the light, and share this light with others.

Let us believe things will fall into place and let us see in our mind how great things will be accomplished today. Let us believe that this day with God will be amazing because of who He is and who we are; an important name in history – one of His children. Here is today’s inspiring video about who we are in Christ: Born Again – Newsboys.

“…let us know His secret purpose. This was what God wanted, and He planned to do it through Christ. His goal was to carry out His plan, when the right time came, that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together in Christ as the head. – Ephesians 1:9-11

Be a Transformer Rather than a Conformer

Peter addresses the Jewish audience in Acts 3:11-26 saying that is was through faith in Jesus that healing came to a crippled beggar. As discussed in the post Empowerment, the beggar at the temple gate was asking for money but through Peter, God blessed him with what he truly needed which was healing.

Peter then addresses the Jewish audience about how Jesus was handed over by them to be killed and they disowned Him before Pilate (v.13). The truth hurts sometimes but in order to get back on the right track, there has to be an understanding of past transgressions before things can begin to be set right.

As we witness of Christ, we can also make our message appropriate and meaningful to our audience. We can tell our audience that life may disappoint at times but the good news is that there is something better ahead if we step out in faith, choose to make every day count, seize the moment to be the light, and share this light with others.

In verse 25, Peter says that God’s gracious purpose is to bless His people. By repenting and adding Jesus to their lives, they would have their sins washed away. This would bring about a refreshing new beginning.

Today, our message can be the same as Peter’s message. Letting others know about the reason for the life of Christ and engaging others to this transformed life that gives new freedom, energy, and purpose.

Heavenly Father, we ask that we work at being a transformer rather than a conformer. Like Peter did, help us to engage others to accept this transformed life in Christ and to travel the path You have laid for us. In Jesus Christ name, Amen!

Power within Us

The post Empowerment gave one example of God empowering Peter to give healing to a crippled beggar. There is power in Jesus’ name and with this power, we can passionately believe in improved tomorrows.

Let nothing hold us up in our work for Him and know that one day at a time the impossible will become possible because God empowers His people. Let us praise the people who help us and remember to praise God. Here is today’s video to inspire us towards sharing our story: Life and Favor – John P. Kee.

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us – Ephesians 3:20
