My Strength and My Song

The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. – Psalm 118:14

In the post “Use Your God Given Talent”, mentioned were the skilled people that made the priestly garments. God has given each of us talents and abilities to serve others. The challenge for us is to discover our specific talent or ability and be thankful.

Sometimes when an athlete makes a good play like a touchdown or hits a homerun, they point to the sky; humbly pointing out that it was power from up above that made it happen.

In whatever we do today, let us also do amazing things by using abilities and skills from God to serve others. It may be to inspire others just like a great athlete or singer. It may be in our job or in how we serve others. Here is an inspiring video as we step ahead: There is Power by Lincoln Brewster.

Use Your God Given Talent

Aaron and his sons would serve God as priests and oversee the operations of the tabernacle. Aaron would be the High Priest of Israel who was to be in charge of all the other priests. They would help the people in worship and in their relationship with God.

As described in Exodus 28, the priests would wear sacred garments made by skilled workers who God had given wisdom and special ability in such matters. An ephod would be made which would have two onyx stones with engraved names of the sons of Israel as a memorial. A breastplate for the purpose of decision making would be worn over the High Priest’s heart made of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen.

Secular thought believes wisdom and ability comes more from a person’s own work or learning rather than from God. In this passage, the facts tell us that God gives wisdom, ability, and power. Each of us can go to Him in prayer which is the greatest power ever and get help from the ONE who has the answer to every problem.

This day with You Lord, we believe You have given each of us wisdom and a specific ability that serves others. Give us insight into discovering what it is and be thankful to You for being the source of our ability. Fill us with Your Spirit as we use our talents and abilities for Your glory.

The Place of Grace

Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it. – Hebrews 4:16

The main point as written in the post “The Greatest Sacrifice Ever” is that God’s Plan for us makes it much easier today because of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross for our eternal victory.

We can be a great person but without Christ, the victory is out of reach. I remember watching the NFL induction ceremony when Brett Favre was inducted into the Hall of Fame. With all his greatness, few people know that he is leader in one negative stat. As a quarterback, he had the most interceptions.

We all make mistakes but we can turn mistakes into a victory if we take in the lessons learned. Because of the grace of God, blessings can be received even from our past mistakes. Take inspiration from today’s video: Your Grace Is Enough by Matt Maher and believe you have all you need to build for an amazing future.

The Greatest Sacrifice Ever

The altar to be built as describe in Exodus 27 would be used to burn the sacrifice of animals. During the time of this writing, the only way people could come to God was if their sins were forgiven so they had to offer sacrifices. God’s Plan for us today makes it much easier to come to Him because the greatest sacrifice ever was made by Jesus Christ when He died on the Cross so that we might be saved.

The character of God is reflected in the construction and furnishing of the tabernacle. He has insight to the past, present, and future to provide what we need to build for the future. His instructions are perfect and all we need to do is follow His plan.

Having a plan is important for our future so let us accept the help God gives in Christ and the obvious as truth. He helps us plan the right things for our day and things fall into place for an amazing day.

This day with You Lord help us to give direction on how to be a follower of Your Son because He provides the clear path to going the right way. When sin entered in, we needed a sacrifice and Jesus came in to save the lost by dying on the Cross. We pray on our knees to be restored daily as we say “Yes” to the ONE who frees. Amen.

The Week Ahead

This week, we will continue the journey and share more thoughts from the study of Exodus 27-28.

Below are some questions for reflection:

Exodus 27
*What is the function of the altar? What about the character of God is reflected in the construction and furnishing of the tabernacle? What in God’s plan now makes going to Him much easier today?

Exodus 28
* Who are to serve God as priests? Who is to make the clothing for the priests? What is the source of their ability? How can we best use our talents and abilities for God’s glory?

Believe that God has a great plan for you.

Victory starts by having a plan. By accepting God’s plan for us, all we need to do is follow and believe He will provide the power. He will give the upper hand to make what seems impossible possible.
