Desire and Power

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. – Philippians 2:13

As pointed out in the post “We Call Upon Your Name”, All who call upon the name of the Lord receive the way to freedom and even victory over death.

This day with God, let us call upon His name and just like in the song One Desire by Hillsong have one request and that is to be devoted to His Way.

To obtain the power the Spirit offers, let us have one desire; to call upon the name of the Lord for all of our days. To desire to hear His Word, see Christ at work, and bring the Good News to others.

We Call Upon Your Name

Scripture Reading: Romans 10:11-17

There is one God that justifies all in the same way and that is through faith in the Gospel message that Jesus died on the cross for the salvation of all who believe. All believers receive the way to freedom and even victory over death.

Within this message is mentioned the activity “call upon the name of the Lord to be saved”. This involves being eager to hear His Word, observing Christ at work in the world, accepting Him as Savior, and bringing the Good News to others. This day with God will be amazing because God’s plan for us gives us a roadmap as we go along life’s journey.

Once the plan is received, lose yourself in this plan and passionately stick to it even if the going gets tough. Sometimes the tough times will build up our character and prepare us for the challenges ahead. Other times, things may not always get better in our lifetime on earth but we can be assured that God will provide for a glorious future in eternity.

This day with You God, we call upon Your name as we aspire to live life the right way; the way Christ has taught in the Gospel. Fill in us, the desire to have an ongoing commitment to going the distance and fulfilling the purpose You have for us. We feel Your presence at this time and in every moment we invite You into our heart. All this is made possible by our faith in what Christ has done for us on the Cross. Amen.

Momentum for a Victorious Day

In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. – Ephesians 3:12

As written about in the post “Way to Freedom and Confidence”, victory in life is about taking that first step toward Jesus. Like the song One Step Away by Casting Crowns, it only takes one step so just go for it!

Take the opportunity to gain momentum with one step that leads to other steps. Before long you are gaining momentum for a victorious life; you are living with passion, loving completely, learning humbly, and living boldly.

The Way to Freedom and Confidence

Scripture Reading: Romans 10:1-10

Paul’s action here is to explain the true way to righteousness. There are two types of righteousness explained here. One is righteousness by faith and the other is righteousness by the law.

The Jews believed in righteousness by the law. They didn’t see a need for salvation because they practiced the Old Testament law. The problem is that no one can be that devout. Their pride and self-righteousness got in their way so they worshiped their law but rejected their Savior.

True righteousness is by faith. Being careful about pride and never depending on your own good deeds but admitting the need for a Savior. Believing what Christ has already done on the Cross and accepting Him as Lord and Savior.

This day with You Lord, we are taking the first step to an amazing day because we believe You will surprise us today with great opportunity. You will work in mysterious ways and all we need to do is take that one step and follow through with more steps as we go through the day. With you by our side, we can live life passionately, learn humbly, and live boldly. Amen.

The Week Ahead

This week, we will continue the study of the book of Romans and share more thoughts.

Below are some questions for reflection.

Romans 10:1-10
* What is Paul’s action here? Where is true righteousness found? What must a person do to be saved?

Romans 10:11-17
* What is the reason God justifies Jews and Gentiles in the same way (See 3:29-30)? What is involved in to call upon the name of the Lord? What is the content of what must be preached?

Believe that God has a great plan for you.

Victory starts by having a plan. By accepting God’s plan for us, all we need to do is follow and believe He will provide the power. He will give the upper hand to make what seems impossible possible.
