The reward of faith is immeasurable, reaching deeper than anything this world can offer. Today, as we open Jeremiah 17, let us receive nutritious food for the soul—truth that strengthens, steadies, and nourishes us from within. In these verses we’re reminded of the true rewards that come from living a life aligned with God’s will, worshiping the One true God as we step forward into the day. With hearts anchored in Him, we can take on every challenge with confidence and look forward with the reward of faith.

Jeremiah opens chapter 17 with a striking image, as if holding up a stone tablet for the people to see. He says Judah’s sin was not a passing mistake or a momentary lapse—it was carved into them with the permanence of an iron tool, etched as deeply as inscriptions cut into stone. Their rebellion had become so ingrained that it was engraved on the very tablets of their hearts, shaping their desires, their choices, and even what they passed down to their children. It is a sobering picture of how long‑lasting and foundational sin can become when a people turn away from the Lord.

Jeremiah draws a sharp line between two very different kinds of trust, and the outcomes could not be more opposite. When we lean on the world—its systems, its promises, its shifting definitions of security—we end up empty, withered, and spiritually dry, like a shrub trying to survive in a desert. But when we place our confidence in the Lord, anchoring our hope in His character and His Word, we become like a tree planted by streams of water—steady, nourished, and flourishing even in seasons of heat or drought. The difference in who we trust becomes the difference between living under a curse or living under a blessing, and Scripture invites us to choose the path that leads to a flourishing life.

🙏 Father, You are our number ONE—above every desire, every plan, every demand of our day. We pause to honor You , remembering that our lives belong to the One who designed everything. Shape our steps, Lord, and guide us with the wisdom of the One who can craft a plan for today and tomorrow. As we follow Your leading and consistently apply what You show us, make our lives full of purpose, aligned with Your will, and right on target for the calling You’ve placed within us. Amen.
