Spiritual Journey Through 1 John 1-3

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been looking at ways to apply the word of God found in 1 John 1-3 and using the questions for reflection to collect thoughts. The greatest of all possessions are the guiding principles taught from the Word of God. These principles serve as a timeless foundation, giving strength and direction in times of uncertainty and moral ambiguity. They inspire us to lead lives of integrity, compassion, and faith, setting an example for those who follow. It is through these teachings that we can cultivate a legacy of wisdom and righteousness, ensuring that the Light of Truth continues to shine brightly through the ages.

A thought from reading 1 John 1:1-4 and shared in the post Way to Glory is that Jesus is the Son of God who lived among us on earth. Jesus laid out the path to go and we can follow the Way. We know what direction to go in the decisions we make. Jesus obtained perfection and by following, we may not be perfect, but we can obtain excellence by following the Way to glory.

Shared in the post Following the Light, the thought is that light shows the details … the good and the bad. God is like light that makes things visible. Light shows us what’s ahead and God is all about what is ahead. Light leads to forgiveness, and darkness leads to sin, so each day with God, let’s begin again to step ahead bringing chagrin to sin and leaving darkness behind.

Brought out in Step Ahead in the Light is that when we love God first, loving our neighbor becomes much easier. When we love our neighbors, the world is much less complicated and a much better place. We don’t need a lot of other rules in life when we love God and love His people. The greatest part is that loving and doing the will of God allows our amazing story to continue from generation to generation, and the story never ends!

A takeaway from reading 1 John 2:18-29 and shared in the post Toward the Reward is that because of Jesus, we have it all because grace flows from Jesus and our faith grows. Our true teacher is the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. The natural consequence of consistently applying the basics of God’s Word, following the example of Jesus, and internalized the Truth as the Holy Spirit counsels along the way is a developing faith and this faith keeps growing each step of the way toward the reward of eternity.

As suggested in in God’s Love Covers the Rough Spots, we should hold a picture of God transforming our situation. God has plans for a future of great accomplishment. Let us dream big dreams and be drawn toward these dreams as the Holy Spirit gives our heart and mind the steps needed for our hopes and dreams to become reality.

Reading in 1 John 3:11-24 and using the questions for reflection to collect thoughts, something remarkable came from the great sacrifice and unselfishness Jesus showed us at the cross. This event defines love and inspires us to act in expressing our love for others.

God has a purpose for us in all stages of life. It may be as teenager deciding what type of career to pursue, a college student, a young professional, a leader within a business or organization, or someone nearing or already in retirement. At all stages of life, the Bible is helpful in providing what is needed to do great things for God’s glory.
