Love Beyond Measure

Happiness on the FarmIn the post “The Third Day”, we are told that the women went to the tomb of Jesus on the third day after the crucifixion and found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They were told that Jesus had risen!

Our mood can always be lifted by the positive affirmation God gives us through His Son. Today, we are made aware that Jesus demonstrated love beyond measure and this inspires us to return this love unconditionally to others. Enjoy today’s video Love Take Me Over – Steven Curtis Chapman.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. – John 13:34

The Third Day

Explained in Luke 24:1-12 is what happened on the third day after the crucifixion of Jesus. The women took spices to the tomb but found the stone rolled away from the tomb and when they entered, they did not find the body of Jesus (v. 3). So Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them were the first to discover that Jesus had been raised from the dead.

The women saw two angels beside them who told them that Jesus was no longer here. The angels told them He has risen and they reminded the women what Jesus had said; that He would suffer, be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed but be raised to life on the third day.

The women found Jesus alive and we can discover daily that Christ is alive as we follow the instructions He gave all His followers; love others as He has demonstrated to us. We tell our neighbor that Jesus is alive today when we say a kind word or take action to care for them.

This day with You Lord, may we understand that the stone from the tomb of Jesus being moved is like opening up what traps our soul. We are no longer trapped to a future of despair but are freed to a future of joy and hope. With the resurrection, we have new life with You God. Amen!

Inspired To Do Something

9a029-firststepIn the post “The Event and Its Extent” about the physical death of Jesus on the cross and the significance of this event, both natural and religious phenomena occur. The reaction of the people to this phenomena communicates to us their recognition that Jesus was who He said He was. We know today that this was just the beginning; for in three days He would arise victorious over death.

Let us be inspired today because of this victorious kingdom of God which has become reality. We are now blessed with this new helper called the Holy Spirit to solve our problems at work, at home, and wherever we are. God created each of us as His hands and feet to change the world. Be inspired by today’s video: Do Something – Matthew West.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. – James 1:22

The Event And Its Extent

Reading in Luke 23:44-56, there is both natural and religious phenomena that accompany Jesus’ physical death. As recorded, about noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon (v. 44). The curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When He had said this, He breathed His last (v. 46).

The centurion praised God when he saw all this that happened. The people who were spectators to the execution saw enough that they mourned and were convicted of their sins. The friends of Jesus stood at a distance and watched. They were not surprised at this miraculous phenomena because they knew that Jesus was the Son of God before His crucifixion and even more so after witnessing the crucifixion.

This day with You Lord, help us to understand the significance of this victory on the cross. Because of the cross, we can approach You directly. We are now blessed with the Holy Spirit working to guide us. We are thankful that You are with us even in our worries, our doubt, and our questions but through this prayer, we can feel confident because prayer allows us to talk to You. In speaking with You, we are speaking to the ONE who has all the answers. Amen!

Sermon Thoughts – (11/01/2015)

A sermon titled “Streams Of Life” was presented last week at the church I worship at. Here is a link to the podcast of each of the sermons. http://www.fumcwaco.org/pod.html

One thought from last week’s message was that many desire a life in which they feel God’s presence. In order to achieve a “With God Life”, one should remember that He wants to be present with us too. It’s not about our character traits, our talents, or our physical appearance but about setting aside time and inviting Him into our heart.

This day with God, share a thought from one of the great sermons in your community or from a podcast.
