Spiritual Living

The main thought brought out in the post New Life with Christ was that the believers approached spiritual living as a discipline. They responded by devoting themselves to the apostles’ teachings and to fellowship.

In life, sometimes we forget that God is the main reason for the good things in life. We focus on putting in all the time at work to climb the ladder of success or stay busy with friends trying to be all they want us to be. But God’s plan is for us is to grow spiritually and to share with others about our faith. Here is a video that brings our focus more on the things of God: Every Good Thing – The Afters.

“…let us know His secret purpose. This was what God wanted, and He planned to do it through Christ. His goal was to carry out His plan, when the right time came, that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together in Christ as the head. – Ephesians 1:9-11

New Life with Christ

As recorded in Acts 2:37-47, the people responded to Peter’s address in a positive way. They repented, were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day (v. 41).

They were blessed in their new life with Christ as those in need received and they were full of joy as they approached spiritual living as a discipline by being devoted to the apostles’ teachings and to fellowship.

The early church grew because the members followed God’s plan and there was learning, sharing, and worshiping. The members loved each other as the Holy Spirit moved in their hearts. It is the same in everything we do in life today. If we follow God’s plan, things fall into place and we get more done than we ever thought we could.

This day with You Lord, we pray that Your Spirit moves in our hearts and we receive the insight needed to fulfill our role so the future is bright. Help us to receive the plan you give us to make a significant difference because of who You are and who we are; an important part of your plan and one of your children. Amen!

Filled with Joy and Living in Hope

Each day can be amazing because the risen, ascended, and active Christ makes a difference in our daily living. Because of Christ, we are filled with joy and live in hope because we can see the Lord always before us. Even in dark times, His light illuminates the world. Take encouragement from this video: We Won’t Be Shaken – Building 429.

Tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. – Romans 5:3-5

Spirit Poured Out

The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and they were speaking in tongues. Many said they were drunk but Peter gives an answer for their actions as stated in the passage Acts 2:14-36. He explains that this was spoken about by the prophet Joel: In the last days, God said He would pour out His Spirit on all people so they would have visions, dreams, and they will prophesy. There would also be wonders in the heavens and on earth.

As Peter does in this passage, let us go to God’s Word as the source when there are people that do not understand that God became flesh on earth as Jesus and performed wonders, signs, and miracles. He died on the cross at the hands of those who misunderstood God’s plan. Then God raised Him from the dead and today, those who accept Him as Savior also receive freedom from deaths grip.

The risen, ascended, and active Christ makes a big difference in our daily living because we no longer just live for today but also look forward to the many glorious days into the future. We are filled with joy and live in hope as we understand that the Lord is always in our presence.

Our weight of burdens only makes us stronger because these burdens make our growing faith even stronger. Frustration on earth is turned to joy because of the hope of our heavenly tomorrows.

Step of Faith

Reading in Genesis 40, Joseph was in prison but he made use of his circumstance to help others. He was not downtrodden but maintained hope and a desire to find a way out of his situation. I’ve written a poem that was inspired by this passage to share with you today. Have a great weekend my friends!

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Many challenges we face;
Seems like mission impossible
But then as we take a step of faith
It all of a sudden is made possible.

We meet the challenge
As God’s Word makes a way
And it is extremely rewarding
Knowing everything will be okay.

Things in life are not always
Going to go our way.
Taking on many tasks
With a challenge every day.

But we seek God first thing
To help us take on each task
By going to Him in prayer
And in Jesus name we ask.

We can be refreshed
With a new perspective
And He will bless
With a new directive.

God is with us always
Wherever we go
As the Holy Spirit helps
Take on every foe.

Speaking to us
Through the Word
To guide our steps
As power is transferred.

Helping us to be
A great overcomer
Even when things
Are such a…
