Free At Last

God gave instruction for the first Passover in Exodus 12:21 through 13:1-16. Moses and Aaron communicated these instructions to the Israelites and they responded by following just as commanded. Then they bowed down and worshiped (v. 27).

At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in Egypt but the Israelites followed the instructions for the Passover sacrifice to the Lord so the firstborn in each house with blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes were spared.

Pharaoh then told Moses and Aaron to leave with the Israelite people along with their flocks and herds. They had been in the land of slavery for 430 years and now were free.

This day with You Lord, we are thankful that by responding to You Father, we are also set free. We are free from the bondage of sin by accepting the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Lord this day, help us to be disciplined in putting You first so that in everything we do, we glorify You. In Jesus name. Amen.

Inspire Big Smiles

Studying in Genesis 50, Joseph never considered taking revenge on his brothers or those who placed him in prison. He didn’t hold a grudge but was kind; He was respectful and this influenced those around him. The Lord gave him great success in whatever he did. This day, let us do the same by being respectful, being kind, and blessing others with a big smile. In turn, this may inspire big smiles to be passed around the world on this beautiful Sunday.

Step Ahead

Life can throw us for a loop
But we can always recoup
If we know that everyday
We are going the right way.

Lifting up with gentleness
And setting a precedence.
Supporting with kindness
To handle any crisis.

Influencing others
All sisters and brothers
Telling the kin
To hold up their chin.

Forgiving others for the hurt
By not getting in the dirt
But letting go of the past
And staying steadfast.

The past we did face
Has been handled with grace
So go the extra mile
And offer a big smile.

Acceptance

There is no such thing as “us” versus “them” within a church. The church is a place where everybody is welcome because God loves everybody. Jesus came to provide the Spirit which binds together all that believe in Him.

Life will never be Diminished because of the Lamb without Blemish

The post Blood of the Lamb explains the Passover celebration that has been handed down from generation to generation. Traditions help us remember what the Lord has done for us and give us confidence for the future. While praying today, make a mental list of the things God had done and give thanks. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. – 1 Peter 1:18-19

Blood of the Lamb

The attitude of the Egyptians was one that looked favorable towards Moses and the Israelites because they had seen the power of their God in the previous plagues. One consequence of this favorable attitude was that they gave silver and gold which would pay for the expenses needed to get the Israelites to freedom.

In Exodus 11-12:20, Moses tells what to expect in the final plague called the Plague on the Firstborn. Every firstborn son in Egypt would die but the firstborn sons of the Israelites would be spared. Moses gave instructions on what they should do; sacrificing unblemished lambs to eat and spreading the blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs (v. 7).

So the Lord caused every firstborn son to die but passed over each house that had blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes. Today, instead of blood on the doors of houses, the sign that protects us from death is our acceptance of Jesus as the blood of the lamb.

The Passover tradition has been passed on from generation to generation as a celebration of the deliverance from bondage. The death of the lamb marks a new beginning just as the death of Christ on the cross marks a new beginning for the believing sinner.

This day with You Lord, we remember what You have done and are grateful. For each sunrise and sunset of each day; for each situation You pull us through; for Your Word that fortifies us for each challenge ahead. Most of all for the victory You give us in Christ Jesus. Amen.
