Seek More Patience and Make Christ More Than an Acquaintance

Many may think following God’s way is boring and there is no liberty or the ability for amazing success but in reality, there is freedom and great success in obeying God’s way because God cares for us more than we care for ourselves. He understands our needs more than we do.

We should strive to be prepared daily through His Word in order to receive His divine power. The first priority is seeking more patience in making Christ more than an acquaintance which is one thought from today’s video: Lead me to the Cross – Hillsongs.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8

Directions Given

Through the leadership of Moses, God had carried the Israelites from Egypt to where they were in Exodus 19. We are told that God had great plans for His people so explained to Moses are directions for what they should do in order to be touched by His divine power. In any good thing in life, we endure being distressed before being blessed.

There were some preparations the people needed to make to receive His protection and favor. Moses explained to them to separate themselves from impurity and to dedicate themselves to Him through a three day purification ritual (vv. 10-15).

In the same way, we should prepare ourselves daily as we seek to be touched by His divine power. Because of our acceptance of Jesus who died for our sins on the cross, we are separated from impurity so we do not have these same challenges as people did during the time of Moses.

Today, we have a lot of technological gadgets but what it really comes down to is putting the time in so we know what to do and have the discipline to carry it out. In life, knowing what to do comes from God’s Word so that we follow the correct instructions.

This day with You Lord, we pray for patience, we pray for making Christ more than just an acquaintance. We pray for endurance through distress and in that endurance, You will bless. We are thankful for Your Word so we have good instructions for a better life today and a better life tomorrow. Amen.

My Part of the World

The take away for me in the recent local news in my own community is how things change in such a short time. I guess change can be okay if it is for the better but sometimes it’s a little sad when the places we went to and created great memories are no longer there.

After over six decades of Baylor University playing their football games at Floyd Casey Stadium, the main part was imploded last Saturday morning. Here is a link to an article about the stadium.

Also in recent news, Waco’s own reality TV stars, Chip and Joanna Gaines has bought the Elite Café. Here is the article: Magnolia buys historic Elite Cafe. The restaurant near the Baylor University campus was recently shut down after serving the community with fine food for many years. Elvis Presley ate there in the 50’s.

Finally, here is a cinematic vision of Waco, Texas: Waco Tourism Video Link. My neighbor was asked to direct, produce, shoot and edit this video.

Gratitude – The Password to God’s Presence

The seventh message in the sermon series titled “Never-Never Land” was presented last weekend at the church I worship at. The title of the sermon was “Never Complain”.

Complaining makes one feel bad; leaving no room for God. It is incredibly contagious and is always self-centered. There is a difference between complaining and groaning. All of creation groans for there is death, pain, sorrow, and sickness but gratitude is the password to God’s presence so we can notice what is right with the world.

To see the worship service live each Sunday morning, just click this link: Worship Service on Facebook. Then look for the latest post where it says Sermon Live. To watch a sermon anytime or place, type in “Sermon Live” in the “Search for posts on this Page” box on the upper left side.

Truly Important

The night before going to a concert with my daughter, I had a major project due and really didn’t know if I could finish and be able to make it. It was just a matter of putting it into God’s hands. Many years into the future, I will not remember the project but I will remember the concert that I went to with my daughter. Time flies by and this song puts everything in perspective for what is truly important: Cinderella – Steven Curtis Chapman.

Teach us to number our days aright. That we may gain a heart of wisdom. – Psalm 90:12
