A Triple-Braided Cord

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken. – Ecclesiastes 4:12

Brought out in the post “Shared Experiences” is the thought that we are united with God through Christ who conquered death. We are a new person in Christ with the purpose of serving a great God who has given us the help of a body of believers. For a triple-braided cord is not easily broken just in the scripture above points out.

We can feed each other Spiritual food for the soul to fulfill God’s purpose. There is no need to worry or nothing to fear for we are free to be the person God wants us to be. As in the song How Great is Our God by Chris Tomlin, we can rejoice in our future together as we use our individual strengths for His great purpose.

Shared Experiences

All Christians have shared experiences with Christ in that they have died but been born again into a new life. The old self has been crucified so that the body once ruled by sin is done away with. They are set free from fear and ready to be God’s instrument of righteousness because death no longer is master over them.

The theme of Romans 6:1-11 is to live the new life that is united in the Spirit; free to fulfill God’s plan in your life. God has provided a sure way to victory in Christ and the Spirit is with you behind the scenes fixing problems at work or home.

This day with You Lord, we need the help that a body of believers can bring. For when two or more are gathered, there is encouragement, there is affirmation, and there is purpose. God, we are united with You through Christ who conquered death. There is power and energy in the Holy Spirit to face the challenges ahead. There is nothing to fear because we will work together to meet these challenges as a body of believers united in Christ. Amen.

Free Indeed

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. – 2 Peter 3:18

Explained in the post “From Death to Life” is how the pattern of sin and death was broken by the free gift of Christ. The grace of God and the gift of righteousness reigns in life eternal. There’s no better deal in the world. To me, it makes good sense to take it.

Everyone needs God’s grace. Once received, one can gain wisdom to live the way life is meant to be lived. As the main point given to us in the song Dear Younger Me by MercyMe, our tomorrows can be better than our yesterdays and today can be amazing because our growing faith can never be taken away or depleted. The Gospel message has a beautiful and refreshing simplicity about it that sets us free and never let us down.

From Death to Life

Explained in Romans 5:12-21 is that sin was in the world before death and because of sin, there is death. Fortunately, the pattern of sin and death was broken by the gift of Christ. Provided for us is a way to move from death to life by being born again which is a free gift of God’s grace through Jesus Christ.

Sin reigned in death but grace reigns through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (v. 21). The grace of God and the gift of righteousness reigns in life eternal. The gift brings justification and life for all who accept the gift allowing them to move from being ruled by sin and death to gaining a life of freedom.

It’s important to make wise choices and there’s no better choice than to accept God’s gift of His Son. After accepting this gift, there continues to be the challenges we face in this world which promotes adversity but to overcome, there are strategies available.

One strategy is to fill our mind s with encouraging thoughts. Try this: take a walk in your neighborhood each day. If you have a dog, take them for a walk and as you walk, memorize scripture, think about your day; what good things did you experience and what bad things did you experience that provided a lesson for the future and a lesson to share and help others.

This day with You Lord, we give credit to you for this gift You have given. The passage today explains how the pattern of sin and death was broken by the free gift of grace. Lord, we thank You that our growing faith can never be taken away or depleted. The Gospel message has a beautiful and refreshing simplicity about it that sets us free and never lets us down. Amen.

The Week Ahead

This week, we will continue the study of the book of Romans and share more thoughts.

Below are some questions for reflection.

Romans 5:12-21

* What do you learn here about sin and death? Which comes first? What is the free gift? How can you move from the reign of sin and death to the reign of life?

Romans 6:1-11

* What is the theme of this section? What experiences have all Christians shared with Christ? What does the Christian know and what difference does this knowledge make?

Believe that God has a great plan for you.

Victory starts by having a plan. By accepting God’s plan for us, all we need to do is follow and believe He will provide the power. He will give the upper hand to make what seems impossible possible.
