Find Your Treasure

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. – Matthew 6:21

What God gives is a plan for life that is a treasure and the more you lose ourselves in this plan, the more passion we will have.

An idea pointed out in the post “Peace and True Life” is to find treasure as you gather positive thoughts, pictures, and sounds desired by the Spirit. These diamonds in the rough will fuel your actions revealing to those around you that you are a part of a group that follows Christ.

Some ideas that might help with our attitude and thought life is to start the day with uplifting positive music. Your thoughts will have a better chance to get in the right frame of mind as you take on the challenges of the day. If yesterday was a rough one, find a treasure like this song called Diamonds by Hawk Nelson to get the momentum going in the right direction.

Peace and True Life

Reading in Romans 8:1-11, Paul summarizes his letters so far by explaining that there is freedom from sin because of Christ. The only condition that needs to be met in order to receive this power is to follow God’s plan for us. What God gives is a plan for life and is a treasure. The more we lose ourselves in this plan, the more passion we will have.

Within each believer is the same Spiritual power that raised Christ from the dead. A Spiritual power big enough to function at a much higher level that brings joy and freedom. Much more than worldly power, prestige, or possessions. It’s so big that we should desire to share with the world.

This day with God, keep on feeding the Spirit inside with uplifting thoughts, pictures, and sounds. Then a new kind of living is obtainable with unlimited possibilities. These diamonds in the rough will begin to crystalize and take shape. They will become fuel for your actions revealing to those around you that you are a part of the group that belongs to Christ. The group that lives in the Spiritual realm where there is peace and true life.

Be patient and believe wholeheartedly in God’s timing that things will work out. As it is with many things in life, what is needed is patience and the ability to keep going when the going gets tough. By keeping our attention on our mission even during difficulty, we might find one simple thing to try and bam! It works.

This day with You Lord, what You give is peace and true life. It is a treasure that gives us great possibilities. We can have the right character traits and talents but these are just part of what we need. The possibilities are there when we set aside time in prayer and invite you into our heart so the Holy Spirit helps us run the race of life the right way, the hard way, the team way, and the victorious way. Amen.

The Week Ahead

This week, we will continue the study of the book of Romans and share more thoughts.

Below are some questions for reflection.

Romans 8:1-11
* How does Paul summarize his letters so far? How can you be delivered from the struggle? On what condition can these promises be yours? What do your actions reveal to people around you about your identification with one of the groups?

Romans 8:12-17
* Who empowers the Christian to live a holy life? What does each Christian have in common with Jesus Christ? Do my thoughts and the way I spend my time match up to what I believe God wants me to do with my life?

Believe that God has a great plan for you.

Victory starts by having a plan. By accepting God’s plan for us, all we need to do is follow and believe He will provide the power. He will give the upper hand to make what seems impossible possible.

Full Potential

My dog wakes up early each morning ready for her food. After feeding her, I take her outside before dawn to sit out on the porch and drink my coffee. On the clear cool mornings, I’ll look up in the sky and see the millions of stars. I’m inspired by the abundance our Creator. The potential He has provided is beyond comprehension. This poem was written to inspire greater effort towards reaching our full potential.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Talents like seeds
need to germinate
in order to develop
to fulfill their fate.

Seeds require light,
Heat and hydration.
Talents require planning
And dedication.

So develop talents
You can disperse
And see abundance
In this universe.

Begin to flourish
In His creation
Using your potential
Without hesitation.

So start each day
With grand strategies
Inspired by the stars
Of all the galaxies.

Refining in His Timing

Always be glad because of the Lord! I will say it again: Be glad. – Philippians 4:4

Touched upon in the post “The Law and the Fall” are two opposite laws that Paul explains. One is the law of God that is holy, just, and good. Then there is the opposite law that he calls the law of sin which the human race is under because of Adam’s fall in the garden.

Every day, we get hit with so many negatives and it is a battle to control our thought life but with Christ, there is hope because there can be refining in His timing. We can overcome and live a life that is pleasing to God.

Some ideas that might help with our attitude and thought life is to start or end the day with uplifting positive music like this one: Live Like That by Sidewalk Prophets. This will allow your thoughts to have a better chance to get in the right frame of mind as you start the day or retire for the evening. Then each day, you will be ready to show the world the love God has shown you in Christ.

Another idea for the end of each day is to write out a sentence or two on something good that happened or why the day was amazing. Think about what you are looking forward to tomorrow. Even though there is an internal spiritual war inside our soul between good and evil, we can be optimistic. With Christ by our side, the Holy Spirit will make it possible for the law of God to be in control and there are no limits to what can be accomplished.
