This Day With God - A Spiritual Journey

Show me Your ways, Lord, teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. – Psalm 25:4-5

In the post “Step Ahead on Solid Ground”, we went through the reason for Aaron’s rod sprouting and growing almonds. It was to signify to the people God’s chosen leader and serve as a reminder to the rebellious that they would be guided in truth. That someone was in charge in pulling them together to head in the same direction.

The take away was to be encouraged by God’s Word, the indwelling Holy Spirit, and by the risen Christ who is our interceding Savior in heaven. While we patiently wait for his return, let us keep working hard and give an honest day’s work, give praise with a good attitude, and be optimistic.

Transformer

This day with God, We can be successful by being perceptive to the important purpose He wants us to act upon; focused on the purpose of being a transformer rather than a conformer.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2

In the post “Focused on the Purpose”, the take away was the need to get everyone pulling in the same direction. Moses had his dissenters as Korah, Dathan, and Abiram along with 250 Israelite leaders rose up to oppose.

God has a definite purpose for each of us and to fulfill the purpose, it takes bravery to stand up to those against us. They might plot against us because it threatens their way of life but with courage, we can stand up and be a transformer rather than a conformer.

Wholesome Dwelling for the Soul

This poem inspired for Leviticus 18, notes the importance of having a time with God daily. Be the person that God desires you to be by following His instructions. That is the best prescription for keeping a sound mind filled with wisdom and a sound body that makes available a wholesome dwelling for your soul.

Step Ahead

God wonderfully
Made you awesome
And knows what’s good
For you to blossom.

Like physical workouts,
Build muscles of belief
By studying God’s Word
And turning a new leaf.

The prescription,
A spiritual system
Available to all
To fill with wisdom.

Accepting Christ,
Feeling very blessed,
And taking care
To be at your best.

Praying and listening,
Giving confession
So the Holy Spirit
Provides direction.

Guided in Truth

The world is restless and continues to drift and change because it is built on shifting sand but our faith is on solid ground. Like the song Solid As The Rock By Avalon, our hope in Christ is eternally secure.

Step Ahead on Solid Ground

This day with God, let us keep stepping ahead on this journey we are on. God will be like a mountain standing rock solid over time protecting us in our time of need. We read today in Numbers 17 about the budding of Aaron’s rod and we will be encouraged today because God is here with us.

The purpose in having Aaron’s rod sprout and bear almonds was to signify to the people God’s chosen leader. It would be a reminder to the rebellious that someone was in charge so they would pull together in order to go in the same direction. The people needed this evidence because their outlook was bleak. They had lost all confidence in the way they were going even though great miracles had been performed along the way.

To avoid the extremes of refusing God’s authority or thinking there was no hope at all, the people needed to keep stepping ahead towards their destiny. They needed to have confidence that God would provide the resources needed to get to where they wanted to go. They needed to give praise to God so they would have the right frame of mind in order to discover that His plan would work.

Along our journey, things can get frustrating. Our day can go from bad to worse with so many things that can go wrong. Technology is meant to simplify and make our lives easier but many times it is just the opposite. Something works one day and then suddenly it stops working. For no reason, the cable no longer works or the smart phone no longer does what it used to do and no one seems to know how to fix it.

Many things in this world are built like a house of cards but there is one thing we can count on in the storms of life. This one thing is the promise of God which is built on truth and we can rest assured that the promise will be fulfilled.

This day with You Lord we have been given a lesson on Your reliability. We can rely on the solid principles given in Your Word. You have high standards and that is a good thing. Nothing ever changes with You unlike things of this world which drift and change. Each day we can get prepared with prayer and rely on Your instructions to step ahead on solid ground with confidence.
