Direction to Step Ahead into Our Future

For more inspiration on stepping ahead into our future, read more and join in on the praise from today’s wonderful song “Good, Good Father” by Chris Tomlin.

A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way? – Proverbs 20:24

History shows us that the good things that happened were directed by God. In the post “Perfect Way”, Moses uses history and experiences to build confidence for the future. As we look back on history, we see that it was the times when we trusted and obeyed that things fell into place for our benefit.

As in the song Good, Good Father by Chris Tomlin, we are never alone. We are loved by our heavenly Father and He gives us direction to step ahead into our future.

Final Victory

Thanksgiving is a time for family, lots of food, and football games. Our favorite teams don’t always win but being a part of God’s team always brings the final victory. All winning teams have a game plan. Let us be thankful that Jesus is God’s plan for us and by accepting Him as Savior; we have taken the steps necessary to make this Thanksgiving weekend with Him amazing!

Thanksgiving is a time
For family and food
And an attitude
Of gratitude.

Football games are viewed
And our favorite teams
May not always win
But one team does it seems.

So be grateful
For this mystery
And how our Lord
Brings final victory.

Free from the demands
Of the written code
Because of the Cross
A new Way is showed.

Accepting this new Way
That God has provided
Doing the amazing
By being united.

Completing the Work

I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. – John 17:4

The post “Purpose in Every Step” documents Moses as he gets to the end of his life mission. He had brought the Israelites out of bondage and now it was time to hand over the leadership to Joshua.

Moses wanted to cross the Jordan and prays to God but realizes that he would not be able to enter the Promised Land. He gets this moment though to go up to a high place. It was a vista where he could look out in many directions at all the land God had promised.

As you strive to accomplish all that God has for you, be inspired by the song Keep Me In The Moment by Jeremy Camp. Live with your eyes wide open so you don’t miss what the Lord has for you.

Purpose in Every Step

This day with God will be amazing because we will are focusing on God’s word found in Deuteronomy 3. If we pay attention to the world, disorder expands to fill the void of human failure. But by paying attention to God, order will fill the void with greatness because we have a purpose as we step ahead.

In today’s reading, documented is that the Lord was with Moses and his people to give them victory. They began to take over land and settle on the east side of the Jordan River. The same is true in our journey through life. Even when the obstacles seem impossible, God is with us to help win our battles.

The final duty of Moses was to prepare Joshua to take over the leadership. He commissioned Joshua as the new leader and encouraged him. Moses prayed to God that he could enter the Promised Land but God told him that his purpose in life had been accomplished. He had brought His people this far and it was time for Joshua to take over as leader to complete the mission.

So Moses would not cross over the Jordan but the people would cross over the Jordan under Joshua’s leadership. At this point, we are told that Moses goes up to a high place on the top of Pisgah so he could look in all directions at the Promised Land. It must have been similar to the photo below where he could see for miles and miles in each direction.

Much of our life is directed by the low standards of this world rather than God’s higher standard. Success is defined by lofty incomes, nice cars, or an expensive house instead of vast spiritual assets like faith, hope, and love!

On our journey through life, we go through peaks and valleys. We face challenges just as Moses did. We have plans and ideas that we set out to accomplish but can’t quit get there. Let us keep in mind that not all major accomplishments are achieved by one generation. Think of all the amazing benefits God has given to the present generation because of the ingenuity and innovation of previous generations.

Think of the great advances made over the years. With our phone, we have an encyclopedia right at our fingertips. We have available apps that can get us anywhere in the world. There is more computing power in our phone than in the computers that sent the spaceship to the moon.

This day with You Lord, prepare us for the challenges ahead. There are lessons learned in today’s reading that we can pass on to future generations so they can handle their challenges in a more efficient way. Help us to organize and prioritize these lessons so future generations know Your plan so they can step ahead towards that plan with a purpose in every step. Amen.
