Bread of Life

The purpose of communion is to remember the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross. Communion is also known as the Lord’s Supper as explained by Paul below in 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Reading today in John 6:41-59, Jesus said that He was the Bread of Life in verses 25-40 and the people began to grumble because they were thinking of physical food. Jesus explains that his flesh or victorious death on the cross brings eternal life is real food and his blood real drink. Those who accept this sacrifice of the body and blood of Christ receive eternal life.

Jesus lives because of the Father, and we live because of Jesus (v. 57). This day with God, let Jesus carry our burdens so we can simply do God’s will. With Jesus or the Bread of Life, our spiritual body remains connected to the nutritious vine that provides life eternal.

Like bread that sustains life, Jesus supports our basic needs now and into eternity.

Fed From Way Up High

The giraffe gets food from way up high like God’s word feeds us from way up high. The praise of God sparks our actions, so let us praise the wonders of His creation.

For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. – John 6:33

A takeaway from “Needs Fulfilled” is that satisfaction, joy, peace, hope, and abundant living are within our reach at this moment; for Christ is the bread of life who nourishes our souls. From the bread of life, we have the Holy Spirit that indwells to bring grace, redemption, and everlasting life.

Like the song O Praise Him by David Crowder says, sing to Christ the King. Praise Him and this will spark our actions to glorify Him.

Needs Fulfilled

From the previous post, Jesus took a few loafs of bread and a couple of fish to feed 5,000 on the grassy hillside. Then as we read John 6:16-40, the disciples got into a boat to go across the lake to Capernaum. Jesus had not gone with them but after they had navigated about three or four miles on the lake, they saw Jesus approaching the boat (v. 19).

In today’s passage, Jesus reveals His power to walk on water. Then later in the passage, we note that Jesus is the Word which is food for the soul so there is an unlimited supply of the bread of life. The thought is that whoever accepts the Word will never go hungry or thirsty which are the two basic needs that Jesus can fulfill.

Satisfaction, joy, peace, and abundant living are within our reach at this moment because Christ is the bread of life who nourishes our souls. From the bread of life, we have the Holy Spirit that indwells to bring grace, redemption, and everlasting life.

Thought From Devotional This Day 10-27-2023

A thought form 1 Kings 8:54-66 is that God gave Solomon a plan in building the temple and he took action on the plan. God has also designed a specific life plan for you. His word will teach and direct and all you have to do is be dedicated to applying your faith, letting the Spirit work in you, and accept Divine assistance as you take action on the plan.

Humbly Go Before God

What seems undoable by ourselves, becomes doable with God. This day, let us humbly go before God for thoughts and ideas that reveal His glory and His love for all.

A thought from “Reveal God’s Power and Glory” is that Jesus’ concern and care for people resulted in thousands following him. When they gathered on the side of a mountain, He was concerned about their hunger, so He fed them. He didn’t need to say much. He just stayed calm and demonstrated how God’s power and glory could meet their needs.

Like the lyrics go in the song Unstoppable by Rascal Flatts, Gods love is unstoppable. Some thoughts from the lyrics are to never give in if your faith has been shaken. God’s love will make you whole again and be born again so get on your knees and dig down deep for His love is unstoppable.
