One idea for facilitating the application of our faith is the use of inspirational poems because poetry narrows thoughts to a few lines as a way to help the mind encourage the heart into tangible actions. This poem was inspired after reading and studying Hebrews 3:7-19. Taking opportunities to spur on a spouse, a child, or a colleague is never a wasted activity but impacts lives in ways we can only imagine. If we begin our day with this frame of mind, we will have taken the first step for a successful day.
Tricked by deceitfulness
Through bad information
Overloading my thoughts
With much hesitation.
My day starts out
Disordered or cruddy
Until I get with God
For a time of study.
To empty the past
That’s been weighing
To lighten the load with
Planning and praying.
A time to set aside
For the word to soak in
So the intangibles
Begin from within.
Then overflow outward
In a brand new way
With activities
To brighten the day.
