David’s life was in jeopardy because King Saul believed the malicious stories and poisonous suggestions people were reporting about David. He needed to take refuge and two sources of refuge are mentioned in verse one of Psalm 11. One is to flee like a bird and take refuge on a mountain; the other is to take protection in the Lord. David chooses to trust in the Lord.
Reading Psalm 11, we see that God deals differently with the righteous and the wicked. The righteous are continually examined by Him but He hates the wicked with a passion (v 5). Back in the day of King David, a person had to maintain certain Jewish laws and perform sacrifices to be right with God. Today, we simply believe in the one true sacrifice of our Savior on the Cross.
Because of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, all who accept Him as Savior are considered righteous and can take refuge in Him. We all need God’s grace and once received, we gain wisdom to live the way life is meant to be lived.
This day with you Lord, we trust in your promises. Help us to live in the Light and use the resources You provide. You are the Source of all things; providing refuge in tough times. Lord, we are thankful for Your Son who died on the Cross for us so that we have complete access to You and Your resources. In His name we pray. Amen!

I can truly imagine the desire to run away and hide( like Jonah) or to take up his cross.
Once this choice was given to me and I chose to run away and hide- and so here I am – totally away from what I am supposed to be, trained to be or want to be- I often wonder how different my life would have been had I chosen to remain in that difficult position instead of running away.

Emmanuel means God is with us to handle the difficulties in life. It means that on the first Christmas, God became flesh and is with us always if we follow His light, trust in His promises, and use the resources He provides. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!

I catch myself wondering the same thing until I realize that God has given me assignments that I cannot possibly hope to achieve so long as I spend all my time looking back instead of looking forward to His promises. When we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ, it means surrendering every aspect of our lives which includes our past. Don’t worry about who you might have been if you had made your decision to follow Christ earlier in life. Focus on who God is calling you to be right now and be prepared to obey the Holy Spirit promptly to whatever God calls you to do today or tomorrow.
