Our Tools in Decision Making

In reading Esther 1, we see how unwise choices cause unpleasant predicaments. There is a lesson and the lesson is that we should be smart and use the tools that help in decisions; lessons from the Bible, the Holy Spirit speaking to us deep in our hearts, and consulting with others who have gone through experiences.

The comedian, Tim Allen once said that women now have choices. They can be married, not married, have a job, not have a job, be married with children, unmarried with children. Men have the same choice they’ve always had: work, or prison.

So we see throughout history that times have changed yet in some cases not changed at all. In preparation for reading the book of Esther, I found out that there is no mention of God in the whole book. It reminds me of today’s times where there is a push to eliminate any mention of God in our public discourse.

We also learned from reading Esther 1 and writing about it in the post yesterday about using good judgment. We learned about a king who had too much alcohol and his judgment was terrible. He also relied too much on the counsel of a few of his people instead of consulting with God in prayer like this video points out. Word of God Speak – MercyMe.

For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. – Proverbs 2:6

  1. Indeed, God has this great and powerful name that America and the world is slowly trying to get away from saying. Great point on God not being mentioned in Esther! Never knew that. I have to say that some wonder where it went wrong. I could point them to the Truth if only one would ask! Great thoughts and neat little study. Peace, cheers and blessings.
