Matthew 12:38-50

Passage Lookup

When Christ rose from the dead, it was proof that He is the Messiah. Let us depend on Him; let us look upon every Christian as a brother or sister and work together for His glory. God has made each person with a mind that generates more electrical impulses than all the telephone wires in the world put together.

God’s love is unstoppable. Like an eagle in the sky, a mighty lion among beasts,or a servant who becomes king; God creates everything and everyone for a purpose and He has made you for a purpose. So step ahead; feel free to explore and discover ways to dispense this power given to you.

Take a few moments and watch this video: What Faith Can Do – Kutless. Let us  pray for unity after the example Christ set and for dreams to become real. God has made each person with the ability to transform thoughts into reality; to dream and make those dreams come true. Start with one small idea, expand your thinking, pray, be inspired by what the Bible tells us God can do, and adventure out. The small idea just might result into something big.

Matthew 12:22-37

Brooklyn Museum - The Pharisees Question Jesus...

Passage Lookup

Jesus heals a man that could not talk or see. The people are astonished and believe Jesus is the Son of God but the Pharisees said it was through the power of Beelzebub, “the prince of demons” that he was able to heal the man. Then Jesus confounds the Pharisees with logical thinking and offers a lesson on storing up good thoughts so that good overflows in words and actions.

As I read this passage, I’m reminded of a video. Here is the link: Heart of Worship – Matt Redman.  My hope is that you will be moved by this video and that it inspires you as you spend this day with God.

May God continue to validate within you the beliefs that bring you to a heart of worship? All it takes is a few good thoughts to overpower an entire army of harmful thoughts and words. Bless your heart and hearts of others with thoughts or words that tell what Jesus has done and continues to do.

Today, part of my prayer is to ask for help in what I think and say so that I speak words agreeable with Christian character.

Matthew 12:15-21

Passage Lookup

While living among us on earth, Jesus never wanted headlines but only to empower others. The way He lived communicated far more eloquently than anything He said or did. Crowds gathered together to be in the presence of a kind and faithful friend named Jesus. Today, we are authorized to spread news about Him and be shaped by the example He set.

An example in modern times of a man that demonstrated a humble and kind attitude took place in April of 1939. He was one of the greatest first baseman of all time. Known for being a great hitter and up until 1995 held the record for playing in the most consecutive games. His career was cut short by the neuromuscular disease now known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He gave “The Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth” speech on July 4th, 1939 in front of 61,000 fans: Lou Gehrig’s Speech . When someone can be thankful even as bad things happen, that’s the type of humility and good natured attitude we can look up to.

The most important aspect of life is our relationship with God. My prayer is that you were blessed by the video. Let us with cheerful confidence commit our souls to so kind and faithful a friend as Jesus. Let us lay aside contentious and angry debates; let us receive one another as Christ receives us. Pray today for the Holy Spirit to work in you and to help you follow the example of Jesus.

Matthew 12:1-14

Jesus is considered by scholars such as Weber ...

Today, we read about the disciples picking grain to eat as they walk through a field on the Sabbath and we also read about Jesus healing on the Sabbath. The Pharisees said this went against God’s Law. As Jesus points out in this passage, He came to free His followers from Old Testament rules.

This passage reminds me of a sermon my pastor Steve Ramsdell gave once. He said that we have three tools that help us make decisions; lessons from the Bible, the Holy Spirit speaking to us deep in our hearts, and experiences of both ourselves and others. If you would like to check out past sermons, they are now available in video at this link:  Sermon Podcast .

The teachings of Jesus set us free to see things as they are and do things as they ought to be done. Jesus made Biblical principles practical and told us simply to follow, believe, and obey. In prayer today, I’m giving thanks for this freedom and opportunity we are given to use the lessons from the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and experiences of ourselves and others to make common sense decisions.

Matthew 11:20-30

Passage Lookup

Christ invites all to come to him for rest and freedom from burdens. Like a vehicle that needs fuel, our souls need fuel and Jesus provides it for us. The Holy Spirit provides us with inner peace and abundant life that is full of meaning; infused with purpose, contentment, and joy.

One point made by my Pastor Wayne Williams in a sermon is that God’s invitation is not complex; just accept God’s gift of abundant life through His Son. He came to give us rest and He invites us to share His joy. You can’t please everyone but you can please God. For inspiration at any time, check out the weekly sermon podcast at this link: FUMC Sermon Podcast.

Today, I started my day with a prayer and gave thanks for being able to lay every burden down at the foot of the cross.
