Cornerstone

In Colossians 1:1-8, Paul opens his letter with a warm greeting to the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ at Colossae, affirming their steadfastness in the gospel despite the confusion stirred by false teachings. His words remind us that even in a world full of distractions, distortions, and noise, we are not alone. Christ remains ourcornerstone—the unwavering foundation that holds us firm when life feels chaotic. Through Him, we are not only anchored but also invited to dream beyond our present circumstances. As we reflect on our hopes and aspirations, Paul’s message encourages us to let God shape them into something far greater than we could ever imagine, igniting a future filled with purpose and possibility.

Paul highlights how powerful faith, hope, and love are as the foundation of the Colossians’ spiritual life. Their unwavering faith in Christ Jesus fuels a deep and genuine love for all of God’s people, a love that transcends boundaries and reflects the heart of the gospel. But the true strength behind both their faith and love is the hope they have—a hope rooted not in fleeting circumstances, but in the eternal promises of God. This hope is not wishful thinking; it is a confident expectation anchored in the truth of Christ, empowering them to live boldly and love freely.

Paul celebrates the unstoppable power of the Gospel message, which is not only transforming lives in Colossae but is also bearing fruit and growing throughout the world. This message of grace and truth is alive — it multiplies wherever it is received with faith, producing spiritual growth, renewed hearts, and communities rooted in love. The Gospel is not confined by geography or culture; it transcends borders, bringing hope and redemption to people from every corner of the earth. Just as it was changing the lives of the Colossians, it continues to spread and flourish, proving that God’s Word is active, enduring, and eternally fruitful.

Epaphras played a vital role in the spiritual growth of the Colossian Christians by sharing with them the life-changing Gospel message. As a faithful servant of Christ, he not only proclaimed the Good News but also lived it out with integrity and devotion. Through his teaching, the Colossians came to understand the richness of God’s grace—a grace that brings forgiveness, transformation, and hope. His commitment to the truth and his love for the church made him a trusted messenger, and his example continues to inspire believers to share the Gospel with boldness and humility.

As followers of Christ, we should draw strength and encouragement from Paul and faithful teachers like Epaphras, who modeled unwavering devotion and bold proclamation of the Gospel. Their example challenges us to live with purpose and passion, expecting to change the world for the better in every way. Empowered by God’s grace and truth, we are called not to mediocrity but to succeed wildly at everything—in love, service, wisdom, and influence. The Church, fueled by the Spirit, has the potential to make the broadest impact of any group in the world, transforming lives, communities, and cultures through the power of Christ.

🙏 Prayer:

Father God, we come before You with hearts full of trust, knowing that You are our strength and our shield. Even when obstacles rise against us, we stand firm—because nothing can block the path You’ve set before us. Nothing is greater than the gift Jesus gave us through the Holy Spirit, who empowers, guides, and comforts us daily. We hold fast to the hope we have in Christ, confident that our future is bright and free, anchored in Your promises. As we step forward into greater things—both now and for eternity—fill us with boldness, joy, and unwavering faith. May our lives reflect Your glory and bring light to the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Questions for Reflection for the Study of Colossians

In the book of Colossians, Paul boldly confronts the false teachings that were misleading the believers in Colossae, reaffirming the supremacy and sufficiency of Christ in all things. He lifts up Jesus as Deity clothed in human flesh, the head of the Church, and the source of true wisdom and reconciliation. Alongside this theological clarity, Paul offers practical guidance for Christian living—urging believers to set their minds on things above, clothe themselves with compassion, humility, and love, and let the peace of Christ rule in their hearts. His letter is both a defense of sound doctrine and a call to live out faith in everyday relationships, work, and worship.

The reading plan below will be used to hold me accountable as I share about God’s Word. To share about Colossians, it’s important to have a plan in place. I am thankful that Jesus is God’s plan for us, and by accepting Christ as Savior, we have taken the essential steps to make each day amazing. This plan will guide our journey, ensuring that we gain a deeper understanding of the scriptures and apply them meaningfully in our daily lives.

Questions for Reflection

Colossians 1:1-8 – What is the source of the Colossian Christian’s hope? What is happening to the Gospel? Who had told the Colossians about the gospel? What has Epaphras done?

Colossians 1:15-23 – Who is Jesus Christ? What place does Jesus Christ have in your life today? What is the purpose of the cross? What is Christ’s final goal for you? What is your part in the realization of this goal?

Colossians 1:24-29 – Why does Paul rejoice in his suffering? What is the revealed mystery? What are its implications for you? For your friends?

Colossians 2:1-7 – For whom does Paul pray? To what riches and treasures does he refer (See verses 2-3 with 1:27)? Why is Paul writing this letter? What two characteristics of the Colossians make Paul rejoice? How can you live in Jesus Christ today and into the future?

Colossians 2:8-15 – How can you distinguish true and false teaching? Of what is Christ the head (See Colossians 1:18)? What has happened to you because of the cross?

Colossians 2:16-19 – How does verse 16 relate to the preceding passages? In what ways are the Colossians being judged and disqualified? Why are these practices unnecessary? Who is your head? How are you nourished? How are you held together?

Colossians 2:20 through 3:4 – What does this passage teach regarding abstinence from certain things? What is the source of these regulations? Why are they valueless? What is the basis for your principles for action? What commands are given to the person who has been raised with Christ?

🎶New Year Song 01-01-2026

I hope you will be blessed this upcoming New Year. This song is inspired by all the sporting events this time of the year and the ones starting up in a few months. It takes discipline and teamwork to compete in any sport. The same qualities are also needed in building our faith. This day with God, keep the body in which Christ lives both physically and spiritually fit. Build up muscles of faith, seek Truth, experience joy, and recognize wonder.
