Prayer Group

Studying in Genesis 49 a while back, Jacob gathered his sons together as he was in his last days and gave a talk. The thought hit me of the importance of listening to advice; determining what outcome we want and what we need to do to make it happen.

This poem is about the importance of the path God has provided through His Word and the need for prayer as we step ahead along that path. Have a blessed Sunday my friends!

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Believe the pathway set ahead
Leads to what is good;
A place lovely and true;
Opposite of worldly falsehood.

A pathway which is built
On Biblical principles
That provide stepping stones
To a place of amazing miracles.

Desire to be remembered
For positive attributes
That impact the world
With uplifting spiritual fruits.

Rely on past experiences
As guidance for your hopes.
Use negative experiences
As ways to learn the ropes.

Difficult events of the past
Are not stop signs
To the path ahead
But rather guidelines.

So it’s very important
To reflect on the past,
Seek the Father’s guidance
And in Jesus name always ask.

Reflect about the past
And the lessons learned.
Head to a brighter place
So gloom is overturned.

Work together with others;
Receiving the help needed
And learning lessons of life
You so often have heeded.

All need a strategy
And a road map to follow

Never Quit

The second message in the new sermon series titled “Never-Never Land” was presented last weekend at the church I worship at. The message brought to us was “Never Quit”. Here is a link to the Sermon Podcast.

Brought to us were some points brought out when a “Samaritan Woman Meets Jesus at the Well”. Never quit but keep on believing because God can make anything possible. Like the woman at the well who was touched by Jesus, we can also be touched with a miracle. Jesus is interested in all people and He knows our story; our weakness and hardships. Write down your anything is possible prayer today and believe.

The Humble Never Crumble When God Is With Them

As shared in the post He Answers Man’s Despairing Pleas with Plans, Moses knew his limits and was humble but Pharaoh would not take to heart the greatness of God. His stubbornness resulted in Egypt being cursed with plagues.

Even though Moses lacked confidence, there were aspects of his personality that God could use for a tremendous purpose. He humbly listened to God’s instructions and carried them out.

God can use you too and thinks you’re awesome! Just use the strengths He has given you, listen to His direction, be happy with who you are, and He will do the amazing part through you. Take encouragement from today’s video: Word of God Speak – MercyMe.

He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm. – Proverbs 12:20

He Answers Man’s Despairing Pleas with Plans

Moses didn’t have the confidence to tell Pharaoh what God had told him to do; to tell Pharaoh King of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. In Exodus 7, God answers his despairing plea with a plan. Moses would simply say what God commands and his brother Aaron would tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go (v. 2).

Because Pharaoh refused to let the people go even after seeing the power God had given Aaron when he changed a staff into a snake, He put the king of Egypt and his nation through a series of plagues. The first is the plague of blood. God told Moses to confront the Pharaoh again about not letting the people go to the wilderness to worship. This time, Moses was given the power by God to strike the water of the Nile with the staff and the river water changed into blood (v. 17).

Pharaoh rejected the power of God so he was not obedient. Our obedience or disobedience is contingent on our view of God. Our humility adds to our wisdom as we experience life. Much like those in previous generations who lived through the great depression of the 1930’s and had experienced the effects so that they were more disciplined in how they used their hard earned money.

This day with God, be thankful for the lessons in the Word that help us in life because in life, things can blow up in our face and we wouldn’t have a clue what to do without the documented Word. The Word is the basis for our laws today; keeping a society functioning the way it should. The Word prepares us for a sometimes confusing world and it helps us to be battle tested for the challenges of each day.

Irritations can Become Pearls

Some days are just frustrating and it takes some adjustment and soothing but like a piece of sand irritating a clam, our irritations might become our pearls.

This day with God, be an overcomer even when things happen that should not or when those you thought you could trust do something that makes you not trust them anymore. Be able to forgive, step ahead, and be grateful for what you do have. Here’s a video to spur us on with this thought: Overcomer – Mandisa.

To him who overcomes, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I overcame and sat down with my Father on His throne. – Revelation 3:21
