Listen and Believe

Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God I will praise His Word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? – Psalm 56:3-4

Some thoughts were posted at “Calming the Storm” about how fear can be overcome as we focus on the help of Christ and His unlimited power to calm the storms. Our fears can subside when we rely on this power to calm the storm and are prepared to take swift action with faith.

As the song Voice of Truth by Casting Crowns points out, the world tells us we’ll never win but the voice of Truth tells us a different story. The voice of Truth says do not be afraid but choose to listen and believe.

Calming the Storm

This day with God will be amazing because He’s protecting us in our time of need. We can take courage, for God is there for us. Today, we continue the journey reading Mark 4:35-41.

After teaching near the shore of the Sea of Galilee, Jesus told His disciples to go to the other side. A storm came up and the waves were breaking over the boat. Jesus was asleep so the disciples woke Him and explained their fear of the storm. Remember, four of the disciples were fishermen so they had knowledge of the ferocity of the storms on this sea. The command Jesus gives to the waves is, “Quiet! Be still!”

Our life is full of the storms. There are storms of sorrow, of problems, and anxiety but the way to respond to these storms is to replace these storms with faith in Jesus. Our confidence grows when we know He is with us in the midst of the storms.

Because of Christ, we have a great power. The same power that calmed the storm in today’s passage so let us take on our fears head on by facing them one by one knowing that we have on our side a greater power than the storms.

This day with You Lord, we face storms head on because with the help of the Holy Spirit, we have a power greater than these storms. We truly believe that You are with us in these storms and we are not afraid. You are our life preserver and if the storms of life throw us into the depths of the sea, You will keep us afloat. Because of our faith in You, we will step ahead with courage knowing that all things will work out. Amen.

Light To Our Destination

This day with God, collect the precious insight gained in His Word and get connected to the guiding principles taught by Christ. Join the celebration with the song “You Say” by Lauren Daigle.

Mark Shields's avatarThis Day With God - A Spiritual Journey

The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid? – Psalm 27:1

The spiritual principle illustrated in the post “Light in Darkness” is discovering the great strength we have in God’s assistance along our journey. He is like a lighthouse constantly there to provide the light to our destination.

As the song You Say by Lauren Daigle points out, we may think we are not enough or may not measure up. But the Lord tells us we are loved. He says we are strong, thinks highly of us, and says we belong.

The Way of Truth

This day with God, take in what is inspirational, adventurous, and that blesses with a joy that nourishes the soul. The way of Truth leads to an amazing destiny because the journey provides wisdom from the past, information in the present, and instructions toward the future.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Thoughts are undivided,
Thankful for the path
That’s provided
And being guided.

The way of Christ
In whose name we pray
And to our destiny
Without delay.

One act of kindness,
A smile or good deed,
Encouraging each other
As we proceed.

Not against the wind
That’s always breezy
But with the wind,
Simple, and easy.

Eternal blessings
Without any loss
By accepting
What was done on the Cross!
