Ever-Flowing Waters of Righteousness

But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. – Amos 5:24

Within the post “Admit It to Fix It” pointed out is that removing Godly principles from our life has disastrous effects. There is a battle going on every day and sometimes there is a need to slow down and depend on God.

God is the one that can truly get to the heart and clear what corrupts the soul.  Take in the song Truth Be Told by Matthew West for encouragement. As the song points out, let us admit it and be honest because that’s the only way to fix it.

Let us be honest with God to allow integrity to lead to more freedom. Because of acceptance of Christ in our heart, a fresh flow of integrity will clear the pollution of the soul like an ever-flowing stream.

Admit It to Fix It

There is a battle going on every day and sometimes there is a need to slow down and depend on God. We need to admit corruption to fix it and God is the only one that can bring righteousness. Because of acceptance of Christ in our heart, a fresh flow of integrity clears the pollution of the soul like an ever-flowing stream to freedom.

Reading today in Judges 20, the Levite conveys that Israel had reached a point of total moral decay. His communication was effective as the men of Israel decided to make a stand and make a plan to hold the tribe of Benjamin accountable by going to battle against them for the rape and murder of the Levites’ concubine.

There is a progression of their dependency on God. The Israelites were losing their battle with the Benjamites but they turned to God for direction. At first they simply ask if they should fight the Benjamites. Then when they continued to lose men, they prayed for direction, fasted, and presented burnt offerings to the Lord. The Lord then gave them a plan to ambush the Benjamites and they struck down 25,100 Benjamite soldiers.

The take away from today’s passage is that removing Godly principles from our life has disastrous effects. This action of the people of Israel shows that even without leadership, they had a certain amount of understanding between right and wrong. They turned to God for leadership and planned out their strategy to go up against the tribe of Benjamin.

This day with You Lord, help us deal with problems now before they grow out of control. You are big enough to make wrongs right so that’s why we come to You now in prayer. If there are adjustments that need to be made in our life, we are listening and want to take the steps needed as we grow each day to meet Your high standards. Amen

Along the Way with Power to Fulfill Your Purpose

Stick to God’s plan for you and bring Him glory. Use this poem to inspire and receive power to fulfill your purpose.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Your future will be
Better than the past
Praying each day
And set free at last.

With baptism,
There is no delay
In being united
Into the Way.

Where efficiency
Is on display
As you follow
This certain Way.

Then day by day,
You will lean on grace
To make course corrections
To this wonderful place.

Along the way
With new purpose
Where true power
Begins to surface.

Come to the Table Next to the Savior

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

Shared in “The Spirit Encircles the Heart” is that some happenings are so horrible that they make us wake up from ill-advised indifference.  We need to consider what’s going on, speak our minds, make a stand, and come to the table with ideas to purge moral contamination.

As the song Come to the Table by Sidewalk Prophets points out, let us take our place beside the table and be set free. Let us come to the table next to the Savior.

The Spirit Encircles Your Heart

Each day with God enables the Spirit to encircle your heart. Take the opportunity today to read Judges 19 so the word can enter through your mind, into your body, and settle in your heart. Thoughts and ideas will form that you can share with others.

In today’s passage, we read that the nation of Israel was in a time of decline and so was the life of an unemployed Levite. The Religious leader had a concubine and she had left him to return to her home. After about four months, the Levite goes to her home where her father was hospitable to the Levite.

In those days, a great amount of value was placed on being hospitable. The father of the concubine invites the Levite to stay so they could eat, drink, and have conversation. Every time the Levite says they are leaving to go home, the father invites them to stay another night.

In the afternoon of the fifth day, the Levite, his concubine, and a young servant start their return trip home to the hill country of Ephraim. It was a long trip so they needed a place to stay along the way and an old man living in Gibeah invited them to stay with him.

That evening, some wicked men of the city surrounded the house of the old man and demanded that he bring the Levite out so they could have sex with him. The concubine was offered to them instead and they rape and abused her throughout the night.

The next morning, the Levite gets up to go home and outside near the door is his dead concubine. He puts her dead body on his donkey and sets out for home. When he arrives home, he cuts up the body of his concubine into twelve parts and sends the parts to each of the twelve tribes of Israel.

What happens as recorded in today’s passage is similar to what is recorded in Genesis 19:1-11 at Sodom and Gomorrah. Israel had reached a point of total moral decay. We see that removing Godly principles from a society has disastrous effects.

Some happenings in society are so horrible that they make us wake up from ill-advised indifference.  We need to consider what’s going on, speak our minds, make a stand, and impact the world with ideas to purge this moral contamination.

This day with you Lord, we follow Your plan and are ready to make a stand. We start now to take the first step. You will guide our steps to do what needs to be done. When the tough times come, we will have confidence in our ability to make a stand because You are with us. Amen.
