Just as the sun rises over a beautiful countryside, your mood can always be lifted by the positive affirmation God gives us through His Son. In John 21:15-25, the question Jesus asked Simon Peter is, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He answered, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you (v. 16).” Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.” The same question is asked three times and Peter answers “yes” all three times.
The love for Christ is proved by sacrifice just like Christ did on the cross. It produces actions; things like helping someone in need, encouraging, or inspiring. Love finds a way and is the answer.
I remember a recent sermon from Rev. Ryan Barnett – Lead Pastor at First Methodist Waco. The thought from the sermon was that we worry about things, but one affirmation of our life brings peace. Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Think about all the miracles Jesus performs in the Book of John. Changing the water into wine, healing the sick son, healing the paralyzed man, feeding the 5,000, calming the storm, and bringing Lazarus back to life.
There is anxiety in a new job we begin, going back to school, new trends, fitting in, and meeting expectations. Yes, we have anxiety but there can be peace, the storms can be calmed, and we can see a bright future because Jesus loves us. He brings new life now and into the future and into life everlasting. No challenge or obstacle can stop the love Jesus has for you. It’s unstoppable!
That my friends is a good ending as we have reached the last chapter of the book of John. He wrote so that others may believe. Not all signs and wonders were recorded in the book of John because he says that not even the whole world would have room for the books that would be written (v. 25).
Love originated in You God, love was exemplified in Jesus, and love grows in our hearts day by day with the help of the Holy Spirit. Your love is available to all God and the best time to love is right now. By accepting Christ in our heart, we experience perfect love by having a relationship with You God. Jesus laid down His life for us and it is in the name of Jesus who demonstrated His love on the cross that we pray, amen.
