A MOTHER’S INVESTMENT STRATEGY

   SURVIVING TURBULENT TIMES

            2 Timothy 1:3-4

       MOTHERS INVEST IN:

1. MAKING THE MINUTES COUNT.

“Timothy, I thank God for you. He is the God I serve with a clear

conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly

remember you in my prayers.”

2 Timothy 1:3 (NLT)

“Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, making

the most of the time, because the days are evil.”  Ephesians 5:15-16 (NRSV)

WORDS

       ATTITUDES

                     ACTIONS

 2. RELATIONSHIP

PRINCIPLES.

“I long to see you again, for I remember you in my prayers, for I

remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we

are together again.”

1 Timothy 1:4(NLT)

“Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good

deeds.”  Hebrews 10:24 (NLT)

 3. GUIDANCE FOR LIFE.

“I know that you sincerely trust the Lord, for you have the faith of your

mother, Eunice, and your grandmother, Lois.” 2 Timothy 1:5(NLT)

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your

strength. Always remember these commands I give you today. Teach

them to your children, and talk about them when you sit at home and

walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NCV)

SPIRITUALITY

                     PRACTICALITY

                                            SELF-C0NTROL

4. COURAGE IN TURBULENT TIMES.

“This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave

you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given you a spirit of

fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self disciplines.”  2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NLT)

     Surviving Turbulent Times

            BELIEVE AND HOLD

                    Romans 12:1-2

                        INVEST IN:

1. A BODY THROUGH WHICH CHRIST LIVES.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies

to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will

accept.” Romans 12:1ab (NLT)

“Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit,

Who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to

yourself.” 1 Corinthians 6:19 (NLT)

2. A MIND THROUGH WHICH CHRIST THINKS.

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God

transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then

you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good

and pleasing and perfect His will really is.” Romans 12:2 (NLT)

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus….”

Philippians 2:5 (NKJV)

3. A TALENT THROUGH WHICH CHRIST SERVES.

“…we are all parts of His one body, and each of us has different work

to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each

other, and each of us needs all the others.” Romans 12:5bc (NLT)

“God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well….”

Romans 12:6a (NLT)

4. A HEART THROUGH WHICH CHRIST LOVES.

“Don’t just pretend that you love others. Really love them. Hate what

is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with genuine

affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”

Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other.

Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.”

John 13:34 (NLT)

5. A HAND THROUGH WHICH CHRIST HELPS.

“When God’s children are in need, be the one to help them out….”

Romans 12:13a (NLT)

“…If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give

them something to drink,….” Romans 12:20bc (NLT)

Thoughts From Sermon

I came across this video called Imagine by MercyMe and I thought it fit in with what Pastor Wayne was talking about in the sermon this past week.  When he said that the greatest mission field begins with our own heart – to love the lord with all our heart, soul, and mind. When he said it all begins with what’s on the inside. Then we can make a difference to our closest mission field which is our family and friends. Click here to check out the video called Imagine.

                  2 Corinthians 4:17-18

                            INVEST IN:

1. GOD’S GRACE, NOT MY EFFORT.

“And so, since God in His mercy has given us this wonderful ministry,

we never give up.”

2 Corinthians 4:1 (NLT)

2. REAL TRUTH

, NOT MY IMAGE.

“We reject all shameful and underhanded methods. We do not try to

trick anyone, and we do not distort the word of God. We tell the truth

before God, and all who are honest know that.”

2 Corinthians 4:1 (NLT)

3. GROWING FAITH

, NOT MY NEED.

“We don’t go around preaching about ourselves; we preach Christ

Jesus, the Lord. All we say about ourselves is that we are your servants

because of what Jesus has done for us.”

2 Corinthians 4:5 (NLT)

4. PERSONAL HUMILITY

, NOT MY

ARROGANCE.

“But this precious treasure – this light and power that now shine within

us – is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So

everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our

own.”

2 Corinthians 4:7 (NLT)

5. DEMONSTRATED KINDNESS

, NOT MY

SELFISHNESS.

“All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and

more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.”

                                                                        2 Corinthians 4:15 (NIV

)

6. THE ETERNAL

, NOT THE TEMPORARY.

“For our present troubles are quite small and won’t last very long. Yet

they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever.

So we don’t look at the troubles we can see right now; rather, we look

forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will

soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.”

                                                                   2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NLT)
