Blessings Throughout Each Hour

Psalm 143 is a prayer of David; knowing that he is not perfect, he turns to God. David was on the run, hiding in a cave away from enemies. David’s desire and our own desire should be that our thoughts are dominated by the uplifting Spirit of God and not controlled by stress and worry. We should be driven by the things of God; ask for help and think of the possibilities.

In Psalm 144, David uses symbols of a rock, fortress, and shield to describe God. He explains that we should rely on God who has power to provide deliverance from deceitful enemies. Prayer is our greatest power. We can receive blessings throughout each hour as we pray. We can make hope become reality through our prayers. We can paint a colorful and detailed picture with God; let Him deliver his blessings from our visions of hope.

Inspired by reading and studying Psalm 143-144, I wrote a poem and have now included a piano piece into the three minute video below: Blessings Throughout Each Hour.

Tomorrow, I will continue the study into Psalm 145. May God bless you throughout each hour!

Hope Becomes Reality Through Prayers

This day with God will be amazing because prayer is our greatest power since we are speaking and listening to the ONE who already has the answer. As you go throughout this day, paint a colorful and detailed picture with God; thinking of how you may play your part and letting God deliver His blessings from these visions of hope. To get those creative juices flowing, here’s a piano piece called All of Me (Jon Schmidt) – ThePianoGuys.

Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. – Proverbs 29:18

My Rock, Fortress, and Shield

Photo from Google Images

David uses the symbols of a rock, fortress, and shield to describe God in Psalm 144 as He remembers past victories over enemies that have been subdued by the Lord. He describes God as strong, solid, and immovable yet someone who is interested in us; loving, and intimate who thinks about us and cares for us.

David reminds us that life is short like a breath or shadow of one day therefore we should use our time wisely by doing things that have purpose and are meaningful. We should rely on God who has power to provide deliverance from enemies who are deceitful.

David sings to God with joy because of the victories given now and into the future. He looks for a future generation that is ready to handle the challenges so blessings of peace and prosperity will sweep the land.

This day,  we pray for the future by hoping in You Lord who can prosper an economy, provide security, and help us live in a just society. We also lift up today a special prayer for the soldiers and families at Fort Hood who were affected by yesterday’s shooting.

Desire the Things of God

Desire the things of God;
Ask Him to lend a hand;
Desire to invest in others;
Make His Word known firsthand.

Draw Him close to them;
Desire to share the joy of free will;
Help them know He is near;
Share with them victory’s thrill.

May He grant your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! – Psalm 20:4

Reach Out to the Lord

David makes his prayer in Psalm 143 on the basis of the Lord’s righteousness because David knows that he is not perfect but flawed. His Spirit is weak because the enemy has pursued him and he hides in a cave. Therefore, he leans on God in this prayer as he remembers the past and what God has done. David spreads out his hands to God, thirsting for Him like a parched land (v. 6) and believing that God can satisfy his needs.

The basis for David’s confidence is trust in God’s unfailing love and his eagerness to serve God’s purpose. David recognized that power does not come from physical strength or military strategy, but in trusting God’s plan for his life. What God gives in a plan for life is a treasure and the more you lose yourself in this plan, the more passion you will have.

This day with God, consider His power and fear will be overcome. Desire that your thoughts are dominated by God’s uplifting Spirit and not controlled by stress or worry. Be driven by the things of God; ask for help and think of the possibilities.
