Thought From Devotional 02-21-2025

A thought from reading John 16:25-33 is that Jesus is the key to peace with endless possibilities with Him in our lives. Worry affects our health in a bad way but there is no need for worry because God has every good thing in store for us. In this world there will be trouble, but we can take heart because there is comfort. We can lay our burdens down at the foot of the Cross, access God’s power through prayer, and follow the Way from instructions found in the Word of God.

Knowing We Are Growing

And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. – 1 John 5:11

A thought from “The Future is Bright for Those Who See the Light“ is that big opportunities are right before us so let us worship today with the song I Saw the Light by David Crowder Band. Let us enter each day knowing we are growing our faith, there is power in prayer, and believing all things are possible.

The Future is Bright for Those Who See the Light

The Word illuminates the Way like the brilliance of the sun on a cloudless morning showing us the Way day by day so that those that follow step ahead towards a brighter future.

From our previous study, love is God’s most wonderful attribute that brings out the best in us as we are unified around faith and community. The source of love is from God through Jesus who bled, hung, and died on the cross.  The effects of love in our life are obedience, care for others, courage, and confidence. Faith and love are interconnected

As we read today 1 John 5:1-12, we note that the source of faith is belief in Jesus. Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and those who love the Father, also loves His child. From 1 John 2:15-17, the world is described as the lust of the flesh, the eyes, and pride. We gain victory over the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God.

I remember a while back when a bird got into the sanctuary at our church. Many were trying to get it out and someone finally thought of turning out the lights and opening a side door. The birds saw the light and escaped to freedom. This day with God, the future is bright for those who see the Light. Big opportunities are right before us so let us enter each day with a growing faith, the power of prayer, and believing all things are possible.

This day, we build faith in preparation for a good day. A day in which we follow the Light to freedom. We trust and obey because we follow Jesus who illuminates light, frees up our soul as the Spirit directs us to fly to the Light, and live the way we should. We love God and love his children with the purpose of making an impact as the Light shines to direct us towards the Way. Amen.

The Best in Us

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. – 1 John 4:7

From “Love Transends Space and Time”, love is God’s most wonderful attribute that brings out the best in us as we are unified around faith and community. The source of this love is from God through Jesus who bled, hung, and died on the cross.  The effects of love in our life are obedience, care for others, courage, and confidence.

Some of the lyrics from Loving God, Loving Each Other by Gaither Vocal Band is that it’s not complicated and no need for a lot of rules. Making music with friends. Today, let us write with friends so the story never ends.

Love Transends Time and Space

What should be the result of God’s love to you? What are the two basic tests for knowing that God abides in your life? What are the effects of love in a person’s life? What is the source of this love?

As we use the questions for reflection and read 1 John 4:7-21, we will focus on the fact that love originates from God and is revealed in His Son who was sent as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Love transcends time and space. Since God loved us so much, we are called to love one another, so God’s love reaches its full expression in us.

The result of God’s love is that we ought to love one another (v. 11). When we love one another, God’s love is perfected in us. There are two basic tests for knowing that God abides in our life. One is that the Spirit of God is in us and the other is that we testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world (v. 13-14).

Love is God’s most wonderful attribute that brings out the best in us as we are unified around faith and community. The source of this love is from God through Jesus who bled, hung, and died on the cross.  The effects of love in our life are obedience, care for others, courage, and confidence.

God, You demonstrated Your love for us by sending Jesus to bleed, hang, and die on the Cross. We accept this love and in return, we love others. We care for others, pray for others, and follow the perfect example of love in the life of Jesus. We pray that Your loving Spirit grows in our heart and that it overflows from our heart into the hearts of others as we testify about Your love. Amen.
