Courage To Make A Stand

The picture above of the United States Marine Corps War Memorial was taken by my daughter when she went to Washington D. C. on a class trip years ago. Making a stand against those that oppose takes courage. The courage to lead, the courage to do what’s right, the courage to start towards a better future.

Reading in Isaiah 41:1-20, this theme of having the courage to make a stand is also highlighted. The one who comes from the east is Cyrus who was king of Persia (current day Iran) from 559 to 530 BC. There was fear building up as he would come from the west to destroy Israel.

Think of current times. Secular thinking is to want God out of our schools, our government, and our lives. Rather than worship the ONE true God, idols are worshiped. Sometimes God allows things to happen to teach a hard lesson.

In our battles throughout life, we can make a difference with courage. There will be times when life is difficult. The adversary will frighten and scare but remember, Christ will be there to bless with courage. We may not win all our battles, but we can certainly set an example or start the process to help others in the future.

Rather than worship idols of materialism, there is a need to worship the ONE true God to get protection and blessing. It takes courage to make a stand against those that want God out of our schools, our government, and our lives.

If we are on God’s side, He will protect and support. We can trust in His strength and presence. With God, we have the courage to say no. We have the courage to face the truth because He will take care of us.  We strive to do what He wants because being on His side is the key to victory. He will help deliver from the adversary and transform our circumstances. This day with God, get others to be on His side by sharing the Good News of grace, hope, and healing.

This day with You God, we can make a stand. We can continue to fight for justice even when others criticize and go against us. Give us courage to do what brings glory to You. To share the Good News of grace, of hope, and healing. The world is a very troubling place at times, but we can make a stand by following the example of Jesus who stood up to the enemy. This day, we boldly step ahead following the Way taught by Jesus. Amen.

Thought From Devotional 03-21-2025

A thought from John 19:1-16 is that your greatest strength comes from God because of Christ and a power is available that can move mountains, calm storms, and bring you through.

Soar On Wings Like Eagles

Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:12-31

The takeaway from “Lift Your Eyes to God” is that you may struggle in difficulty, but you can always hold out hope in God’s infinite wisdom and power. Hope in the Lord gives you a new perspective in which a future can be without limits as you breathe in the Spirit of God and see yourself soaring like an eagle and taking hold of the rising hope Christ provides.

God can provide a breakthrough. Sometimes an inspirational song like All My Hope Is In Jesus by Crowder can start the breakthrough. Then with prayer, you might receive answers to major issues that can lighten your load, and soar on wings like eagles.

Lift Your Eyes to God

Questions for Reflection

What do you see when you lift your eyes to God? What happens when you are spiritually exhausted? What do you do about it?

Scripture Passage

Isaiah 40:12-31

In answering the first question above, when we lift our eyes to God, we see His creation as the sun peaks through the cloudy day. During the night looking up to a clear sky, we can see the moon and stars, the vastness of space. On a cool Autum evening, we lift our eyes to the beauty of the mountains, and the oceans that seem to go on forever over the horizon.

When we look to God each day, we also see kindness in His people. We see people working together to build up communities that are efficient so that all are taken care of. There are solutions to the pressing issues of the day like poverty, drug addiction, and crime. When not looking to God, the issues seem unsolvable. The leaders are corrupt, the cities are polluted, and crime is rampant. We lose hope, become weary, and spiritually exhausted.

We may struggle through difficulty, but we can always hold out hope in God’s infinite wisdom and power. Hope in the Lord gives us a new perspective in which we see a future without limits where there are answers to our questions. Where there is peace and prosperity.

This day with God, let us examine our hopes and dreams. We can be confident that God can take them to a level that we never imagined before. Let us breathe in the Spirit of God and see ourselves soaring like an eagle; taking hold of the rising hope Christ gives.

Lord, we put our hopes and dreams on You. You can provide a breakthrough in our cloudy day. You provide what we need at the right time. The inspiration from the beauty of Your Creation, a good memory, or a walk along a pathway listening to the wind blow through the trees as it plays a mellow tune across space and time. Relying on You Lord and lifting our eyes to You in prayer with a hope in an idea or thought that brings a breakthrough in our troubled times. Keep us going Lord with confidence that You will provide the way, are with us, and no matter how hopeless the future may seem, You will help us step ahead until we make it all the way home. Amen.

His Reward is with Him

See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power,
and rules with a mighty arm.
See, his reward is with him,
and his recompense accompanies him. – Isaiah 40:10

From “Raise a Joyous Noise to Praise”, a thought received is that humanities highest accomplishments are weak and eventually vanish but just a gaze to heaven gives one a reason to raise a joyous noise to praise Christ the King! It is a reward that that can never be matched.

Celebrate with today’s song That’s Who I Praise by Brandon Lake. As the song says, praise the ONE who can do Impossible things.
