Indescribable and Uncontainable

Jesus replied, ‘What is impossible with men is possible with God. – Luke 18:27

The main point for me as brought out in the post, “Seeing and Believing” is that we should be ready to meet God for direction each day just like Moses did when he went up on Mount Sinai for we serve an amazing all powerful God who is indescribable and uncontainable.

Our prayers will be heard as we are connected by accepting our Savior. One small step changes everything and our first step of accepting Jesus gives us a tremendous resource in the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will guide us to an amazing journey as we step ahead fearlessly. Amazing things will happen because the presence of the Holy Spirit in our life will lift us to new heights.

Each day can be amazing because with the Lord, you can passionately believe in what you are doing, let nothing hold you up in your work and have faith that one day at a time the impossible will become possible. Watch the video Indescribable by Chris Tomlin to inspire you this day with God.

Seeing is Believing

Moses was told by God as explained in Exodus 34  to chisel out two stone tablets and prepare to come up to Mount Sinai. Moses’ immediate reaction was to do as God instructed so he chiseled out two stone tablets and went up on Mount Sinai early in the morning (v. 4).

The attitude of Moses before the Lord this second time on the mountain was one of humility because he now understood how disrespectful the people had been toward the Lord upon his first return from the mountain when he found them worshipping the golden calf. Since Moses was humble before the Lord, a covenant was made.

There would be terms to the covenant. They would need to obey the Lord’s commands, worship the One True God, and not worship idols. They would need to keep the Sabbath as a day to worship; to rest the mind and body. The Lord would require the people to fulfill their duties.

Illustrated to us in this passage is the character of God which is compassionate and gracious; slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness (v. 6). The covenant God made would allow the people to witness what seemed impossible becoming possible so the people would see and believe.

When Moses returned from the mountain with the Ten Commandments this second time, the people were not worshiping a golden calf or any other idol. The face of Moses radiated with the glory of God and the people respected Moses as their leader.

As we go about our daily activities, we should also be prepared to meet God for instructions in how to live. When we spend time with God, it will show in our face just like it did with Moses. People will be aware and want what we have.

This day with You Lord, we meet with You again for instructions just like Moses did. We are ready to carry out your approved plans today. We are confident in your plans and can dream big for a bright future. By trusting and obeying, we will see your great wonders and believe that the future possibilities are unlimited. Amen.

Questions for Reflection for Study of Exodus 34-40

Gained over the last few weeks through the study of chapters 29 through 33 were tremendous nuggets of gold that can be applied in our life.

In the post “Detailed Instructions”, are thoughts about the specific instructions for the offerings made in order to consecrate priests. Today, we identify with Christ as our sin offering and the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Since Christ came and died on the Cross, we have a direct relationship with God.

Shared in the post “Immanuel” was the purpose of the tent of meeting which was to have a place where people could meet with God. The Lord’s presence back then and today is our great reward. Because of Christ’s victory on the cross, the Holy Spirit provides believers the distinct advantage of meeting Him at any time and any place.

In the post “Filled With His Spirit”, God provided workers who could reflect His creative activity in order to build and furnish the tent of meeting; a place for His people to meet with Him. Today, God continues to provide people with certain strengths to reflect His creative activity and uniquely distinguish them as one set apart.

God’s actions seemed delayed when Moses went to the top of the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments and the people got impatient. As pointed out in the post “Hope Produces Patience”, our response when the answers to our prayers seem delayed should be to hold on to the promise.

In the post “Qualities of Leadership Found in Moses”, we noted that Moses continued to pray for his people and was patient with them even when he found them worshiping a golden calf upon his return from the mountain after meeting with God.

Brought out in the post “Regular Habit” was that Moses would go to a tent set up away from the camp to meet with God. He would get instructions about how to lead his people. As we begin each day, it’s important that we do the same as we ask for guidance along life’s best path.

The Lord speaks to us in various ways – visions, dreams, and life’s circumstances; even advice from others. Most of all, God speaks through the Bible. Thus, the main purpose of this blog is to study His Word with the intent to gain wisdom that we may apply in our own lives and also help others along the journey.

The reading plan below will be used as I share over the next few posts. It’s important to have a plan. I’m thankful that Jesus is God’s plan for us and by accepting Him as Savior; we have taken the steps necessary to make this day with Him amazing!

Questions for Reflection

Exodus 34
What further preparations is Moses to make for this summit conference? What are the terms of the covenant? What is the effect of this summit conference?

Exodus 35
What are the reasons for the Sabbath? What are the indications of motivation for giving (verses 20-29)? What motivates you to give? How does this affect the scope of your work?

Exodus 36-39
What command does Moses give? Why? Do you give God haphazard service or full obedience in detail?

Exodus 40,
What is the time lapse between the erection of the tabernacle and the beginning of worship in it (40:1, 17)? Is your life characterized by disorder and impatience or by orderliness and the ability to wait? Who do you look to for guidance?

Feel free to respond with a short note or a comment about any of the questions above. Also, I welcome any other thoughts or ideas, favorite inspirational videos, photos, or favorite Bible verses. Just add them to the comments or to a Facebook page I’ve set up at this link: This Day With God.

Every Starry Night

I enjoy writing inspirational poems and this one is inspired by a sermon by Dr. Steve Wende at my church. This weekend, share a thought from one of the great sermons you attend in your community or on a podcast.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

The world is difficult
But God is close by.
He is above it all
Just look to the sky.

The world is dangerous
But God is close by.
His angels come
Lifting me way up high.

My life I give
To the only one
Who makes the moon
Reflect the sun.

The angels sing
From the painted sky
Every Starry night
He’s got me in His eye.

Changed my life
Like autumn leaves.
Living with Christ
I ride the breeze.

Asking for Guidance Along Life’s Best Path

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. – Matthew 6:33

Brought out in the post “Regular Habit” was that Moses would go to a tent set up away from the camp to meet with God. He would get instructions about how to lead his people. As we begin each day, it’s important that we do the same as we ask for guidance along life’s best path.

Moses cared about his people; refusing to stay put but ready to move when God instructed. Receive inspiration in the song I Refuse by Josh Wilson that has some of the same points as we face the challenges ahead in fulfilling our purpose.
