Eyes on the Lord

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. – Psalm 16:8

The post “Impacting Lives” brought out the thought that we need to focus in on what really matters. One thing for sure is that we need to pay attentions to the Spirit’s prompting.

By starting each day with a devotional time and prayer, we are then ready to plan out our day together with the Lord and ready to play our part in sharing with others the benefits of following the Way to a successful day.

We can encourage others today and celebrate with them like today’s song I Saw God Today by George Strait  the birth of a child or grandchild, a birthday, a graduation, or retirement.  This day with God, keep focused on what really matters most which is to reveal His glory.

Impacting Lives

Pay attention to the world and disorder will expand to fill the void of human failure. Pay attention to God and order will fill the void with greatness. That’s why we daily turn to God’s Word for instruction, encouragement, true joy, and peace.

As we read Hebrews 3:7-19, let us remember the history of the children of Israel in Numbers 14 as they escaped Egypt and were in the wilderness. They were tired, hungry, and agitated. They were ready to give up but Moses and Aaron tried to encourage them to keep going and find rest by making it to the Promised Land. To make it to the Land flowing with milk and honey.

The people had turned away from God. Turned away from the joy and peace that God offers and their hearts were hardened. They were being tricked by sins deceitfulness and were not accepting the instruction given in His Word.

Things are not that much different today as we live in a world surrounded by the wasteland of information overload. If we are not careful, we get lost and we miss out on what we need to know. One thing’s for sure, paying attention to the Holy Spirit is vital in getting the information we need.

To prevent hardness of heart, we should have a daily devotional time, prayer time, and planning time as we set out to follow the Way each day. Allow enough time for the Word to soak into the heart and soul so the intangibles of faith can begin to overflow into tangible acts of kindness in the activities of our day.

Plan to play a part in providing the benefits of Christ in the lives of others by seeking ways to build others up and encourage them for their future. . Looking for opportunities to spur on a spouse, a child, or a colleague is never a wasted activity but impacts lives in ways only God knows. If we begin our day with this frame of mind, we will have taken the first step for a successful day.

This day with You Lord will be amazing because we have started this day with a devotional time and now are praying for Your help Lord as we plan out our day. We seek ways to encourage others today with the gospel message. To help them see You at work today by pointing out the beauty of the sunrise today or the evening sunset. By being a part of their day as they celebrate the birth of a child or grandchild, a birthday, a graduation, or retirement.  Keep us focused on what really matters most which is to reveal Your glory. Amen!

The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ

The law of the Spirit of life in Christ has made me free from the law of sin and death. – Romans 8:2

The main point of the post “Architect and Builder” is that you should choose to build your life by following the characteristics of Christ. He leads as a friend to great faith and accomplishment.

From this moment on, the right way to go will always be to step ahead and worship the Lord because His love found you first and you belong to Him. Listen to the song I Choose Jesus by Moriah Peters as your worship today.

Put your priorities in order so that your time is spent on activities that make an impact. This day with God, let today’s worship and praise flow into the soul. Then let it overflow in all you do at home, at work, in the neighborhood, and with friends.

Architect and Builder

The verses in Hebrews 3:1-6 build on what the readers know of Judaism and how esteemed Moses was to the Jews. He had led the Jews out of bondage in Egypt, brought them the Ten Commandments, and wrote the first five books of the Old Testament.

Moses was a faithful servant to the house of God but Jesus was the architect and builder of the house (v. 3). The characteristic of Christ as high priest most prominently set out in these verses is that He is the faithful Son over the house of God.

If we, study and think about the characteristics of Christ by understanding how He lived on earth, we gain insight for how to live our own lives. He leads us as a friend to great faith and accomplishment. We are the heirs of Christ not because we are perfect but by grace.

The right steps we can take are to always worship the Lord because God’s love found us first. Christ is the architect and builder of our life and can smooth out the rough edges so we fit into the Kingdom.

Sometimes our priorities get out of order and we put our time into activities that really don’t matter that much but if our time is put into worship and praise of the Lord, we are building a life that matters.

The below picture was taken at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Spirit commonly known as Guildford Cathedral located just southwest of London in Guildford, Surrey, England. I took this while I was on a study/travel trip to England in 1983.

Because of Christ, we are considered the Temple of God because His Spirit lives in us so what is really important is to remove distractions, set up a time, set up a place, and spend time with God on a daily basis. If we do, we are putting first things first and everything else has a much better chance to fall in place.

This day with God will be amazing because things fall into place because of His grace.

Because of the Savior,
there is a change in behavior;
following where He leads
and doing good deeds;
accepting the truth
and teaching our youth;
learning His ways
and giving Him praise.

This day with You Lord, we have a plan to follow. You are the architect and builder that has provided the plan for us to follow as we make choices. Today, help us to gain insight as we seek to take in what is good for our body and soul. We hunger for what is good for our soul and seek freedom to live a fulfilling life through Christ. Amen.

Boarding Pass

This poem is inspired by 2 Timothy 2:14-26 from the Bible. As we sail away on our voyage of life, we want to make sure we get the boarding pass to a vessel that is proven, leads us to where we want to go, and has the Captain who sees the obstacles ahead.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Secular culture
Stirs up the drama
Always pointing out
All of the trauma.

Look at the news,
Go to a movie,
Listen to music,
And all is gloomy.

The challenge we face
Is to fill our thoughts
With things that give hope
Not tie us in knots.

So when sailing away
On this voyage of life
Use the boarding pass
That takes away strife.

By getting on board
Through amazing grace
With the destination
Of His embrace.
