The Way to Victory

For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12

In the post “Step Ahead Each Day“, pointed out was that Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses. Perhaps some envy was in there thoughts.

If we are on the other end of envy and are being criticized, remember that nothing can get in the way of our journey if we are going the way of God. Be thankful for Jesus who has provided victory and has made clear the virtues we need to practice every day.

Take inspiration from the song My Victory by Crowder and be confident in victory by following God’s plan for us.

Step Ahead Each Day

The world has a way of making us feel inferior. Feeling like we are not skilled enough or fast enough. The world makes us feel that we can’t catch on to that new concept like others do. The world wants to spread envy. Such is the case in reading Numbers 12. Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses for having a Cushite wife so they questions his spiritual leadership.

The Lord was furious so He came down in a pillar of a cloud at the entrance to the tent. He gathered them together to affirm Moses as leader by explaining that Moses had more authority than a prophet. He said visions are given to prophets but Moses sees me and I speak to him face to face.

The Lord’s anger burned against Miriam and Aaron and he left them. As the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin became leprous. Aaron then understood the authority of Moses so he pleaded with Moses to heal Miriam.

Envy hurts the one who is envious more than the one envied. If someone is envious and tries to put up roadblocks, remember that with God there is no need to get stressed out. He’s big enough to make up the difference and provide that extra needed to Step Ahead Each Day.

If we are on the other end of envy and are being criticized, remember that nothing can get in the way of our journey if we are going the way of God. Be thankful for Jesus who has provided victory and has made clear the virtues we need to practice every day.

Step Ahead of hate, iniquity, and other corrupting influences in life that keep us down; instead desire the authenticity, sincerity and certainty that God provides. Use technology to make a positive impact in life. Just a click away are scriptures, sermons, Christian blogs, and uplifting music. Available from any place or any time just by using a smart phone, tablet, or laptop.

We run into opposing points of view that want to criticize but today with You Lord, we come with this prayer for the humility Moses displayed in today’s passage. Let us be honest with ourselves so there is less pride in ourselves but greater pride in Your way. We are no longer distracted by what the world tells us but more focused on what You tell us. We are stepping ahead today along the journey giving You praise in song, in reading, and in our prayers. Amen.

Get the Mind in the Right Frame of Mind

There is optimism today because God is with us so join the celebration with a wonderful song to get the mind in the right frame of mind to start the day !

Mark Shields's avatarThis Day With God - A Spiritual Journey

Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

The Israelites had witnessed great miracles but it didn’t last long. As pointed out in the post “Praise Always”, they began to complain soon after their journey in the desert. The manna was not good enough and they wanted meat to eat.

We get hit with so many negative thoughts on a daily basis. One idea is to include uplifting positive music like Break Every Chain by Paxton Ingram in your day. Take about 20 minutes to listen to praise music every day and it will get your mind in the right frame of mind as you either start the day or retire for the evening.

Refuse not to Move

Choose today to set out with inspiration from the today’s wonderful song and get a great start to your day.

Mark Shields's avatarThis Day With God - A Spiritual Journey

A sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not even bring it back to his mouth? – Proverbs 19:24

Brought out in the post “Setting Out Along the Journey”, was the complacency of the Israelites as they remained in the same place before setting out to the Promised Land.

The take away for us is the need to get away from the comfort zone and trust God even when we have some apprehension.

When He prompts us to get going, do like the song I Refuse by Josh Wilson. To do our best and trust in the Lord to take us to places beyond our wildest dreams.

Covered Like a Blanket of Snow

Inspired by Leviticus 15, this poem inspires optimism for the future. Since no one is perfect, the best way to fill in the gap is by humbly accepting the truth of Christ. To no longer be bound by sin and darkness but living in the light of goodness. His work on the Cross covers sin like a blanket of snow.

Mark Shields's avatarStep Ahead

Our bodies are the place
Where God dwells inside
As the Holy Spirit
Resides and guides.

For the Holy Spirit
Will give great power
Bringing new energy
Each and every hour.

As life takes a toll,
Our bodies become frail
But God is concerned
With every detail.

Gaps become filled
By accepting the Way
Bringing things together
Each and every day.

Like a blanket of snow
That covers rough spots,
Grace covers the future
And connects the dots.
