Even when the noise of the world wants to tell me what is important, I begin with prayer and listen for God’s instructions for my day.
My heart has leaned into the study of Jeremiah 11 to build something that lasts—not just for today, but for every tomorrow. Out of this pursuit, a worship song has emerged—born from scripture, shaped by reflection, and filled with encouragement in knowing there is victory with Jesus. We become a champion in God’s eyes and the thrill of being a champion rises from the quiet, faithful effort of following His plan.

Thinking of a sporting event helps us picture the powerful mix of dedication from the athletes and the enthusiasm of the fans who rally behind their team, yet this passage reminds us that God’s people have not always shown this same devotion toward His purposes. History—and even our present day—shows how often people lack the passion to follow God’s plan to victory, even though He offers peace and joy to those who accept His way. When we choose to set our priorities around Him, put in the effort to grow in Christlikeness, and stay focused on the victorious finish He promises, we discover that the same energy and commitment we admire in sports is exactly what leads us into the fullness of life which God desires for us.
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. – Joshua 1:8
From the study of Jeremiah 11, as reflected in “The Thrill of Being a Champion”, we see a people who were unwilling to follow God’s plan, choosing their own way instead of the covenant God had set before them. Their resistance becomes a lesson for us to prioritize God’s purposes, to work diligently and with discipline as we carry out what He calls us to do. As we continue to give effort, persevere through struggle, and grow to become more like Christ, we learn that faithfulness is not passive—it is shaped through commitment and endurance. And in the end, for those who stay the course, there is the deep and lasting thrill of being a champion in God’s eyes.

We naturally gravitate toward comfort, but as the song reflects, God’s plan rarely follows the smooth path we would choose for ourselves.
