Philippians 3:1-11 – What are the two kinds of zeal pictured here? What phrase does Paul use to describe the two kinds of people? What have you counted loss for the surpassing worth of knowing Christ?

Philippians 3:12-16 – Why do you think Paul is concerned about showing that his zeal isn’t perfect (See Philippians 3:1-11)?  What is Paul seeking to make his own (relate to the goal of v. 14)? What are your intense desires and goals in life?

Philippians 3:17-21 – How has Paul been an example to follow? How can you be an example for others to follow? What should we set our minds on?

Philippians 4:1-7 – In what way does this paragraph begin a summary of what Paul has been teaching in his letter? What does the idea of rejoicing, being joyful, and thankful teach? What are some practical ways and occasions in your life in which to practice the themes presented in today’s passage?

Philippians 4:8-13 – How do verses 8-9 help you in your thought life? What do you do with untrue, dishonorable, unjust, impure, etc. thoughts that come into your mind? Which of the principles in verses 11-13 is hardest for you to learn? Why? What is the connection between verse 13 and verses 11-12?

Philippians 4:14-23 – In what way is the idea of giving related to the basic themes of this letter? What makes a gift acceptable to God? What are several specific, practical courses of action that will build the basic themes of this letter into your life?
