Planning for the Future

Who in the Bible have the greatest business plans? The prophets. [1] A business that knows the future is far ahead of their competition.

One of those prophets in the Bible was Isaiah. A prophecy that Isaiah saw in Isaiah 13 for all to see is that God was taking well-timed aim at pride and idolatry. He prophesied the destruction of cities.

At one time, the city of Babylon was a magnificent place with a wall to protect invaders and the Tower of Babylon in the center contained a golden statue. Isaiah prophesied that their pride and idol worship would be overthrown using the Assyrians as instruments of wrath.

God has a purpose in everything that happens. To fit into that purpose and glorify His name, we need to constantly be aligned with His way by studying scripture and going to Him in prayer. Also, to constantly think about what we can do, what we need to read, and who to ask for help. By accepting Jesus, there is direct access to the Holy Spirit for direction.

This is Your world Lord and we are grateful that we can live in it for a while and walk through it trying to fulfill Your plan for us in this life and into eternity. Help us to read Your word so we understand, and it coaches us toward holiness. We need guidelines and we find them in Your Word. Jesus is the Light that enables us to see and understand the world around us, to solve the most pressing issues, and make decisions for the future. Thank You for sending the Light as we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
